In a sane world Venezuela would jump on this.
Talk about an opportunity...
They're too busy looking for dinner. They've already eaten their zoo, now it's on to any unlucky stray dog or cat.
Oh, the US can resupply the shortages in South America, no problem. Then the South American countries can gouge the Chinese on their sales, knowing they will not run out on their end, but having a hand on the spigot all the time.
Soybeans are not at all the same thing as petroleum. Venezuela is not a major producer of soybeans. But their neighbor Brazil is, and rank second only to the US as a major producer, having some time ago surpassed China.
Global soybean production is the U.S. and Brazil, and then everybody else. (Argentina, China and India are respectable second tier producers.) Venezuela is not a player.
With every story like this only shows the country what fools we have had in the Oval Office who only “mouth the words” “Free Market” rather than test the waters with the force of real experience(Yes, I'm talking about both Bushes, Clinton and the pretender, Obama)
And the bonus of ruining the careers of the “experts” the Media turns to for “expert opinions” is the gravy to an already fine meal is delicious!
