Organizers of a union-backed initiative to limit dialysis provider profits in Ohio have submitted additional signatures that should get the measure on the Nov. 6 election ballot. . . . .
The Ohio initiative is similar in intent to one that is set for the November ballot in California. Both proposals, backed by the SEIU, call for limiting profits of dialysis providers to no more than 115% of their costs for patient care. Additional profits would be returned, in the form of rebates, by the dialysis providers to commercial health plans who have patients being treated in dialysis clinics.

There are studies showing that the federal work force visa ve the private sector. Probably because of more education in the former.
Unions have nothing to do with pay in the fedgov.

Don't lay things like that out, government employee unions will stalk away with it... You have to include ALL benefits in those calculations, including paid holidays, vacations, sick leave, etc, etc, etc.
I'd be just happy with 125% of private sector compensation, that'd save us a mint right there.
Of course, add on that all compensation MUST be funded from PRESENT budgets and not future budget funding, since it'd be grossly unfair to write the budget of, say, a future city council or county board of supervisors by pre-loading it with all your benefits promises from today.
Time to pass a law to limit union fees to 100% of negotiating costs for the job at hand.
What if the dialysis providers go out of business or out of state? What happens to their patients? Will the Marxist-led SEIU do it for them?

Do the dialysis providers in border areas charge less?
Do the insurance companies pay the higher rates?

I worked for the Medicare renal disease program in the early 1980s and wrote my masters thesis analyzing how changes federal reimbursement regulations actually increased the cost of dialysis treatment. Dialysis treatment is primarily paid by Medicare under a 1974 law that extended Medicare benefits to patients with kidney failure who were under age 65. With guaranteed federal reimbursement for dialysis, for profit dialysis facilities have become the primary providers. Putting in essence state rate controls on a largely federally paid treatment will be a regulatory nightmare. I look for many dialysis facilities to simply close because of the complexity of the regulation. Ohio tax payers will also be footing the bill for the creation of a huge regulatory bureaucracy to enforce this law
What happens when you cap profits on an essential medical service?
(1) There is no incentive to control costs - higher costs mean higher potential profits.
(2) There is no incentive to invest in R&D or new technology.
If these “people” are so concerned about the cost of dialysis, why don’t they open a dialysis center in competition with the existing centers. That way they could control the cost without involving the taxpayers. Stupid question, I know...

What are the chances that these companies leave the state and force people to drive hundreds of miles and wait in long lines. There is a reason they can charge more. I do not understand why the Demonic-rats rant about profits while protesting in their $150 Jordan’s and taking selfies with their iphones.
