Tech giants ditch controversial Infowars star Alex Jones

Controversial Infowars star Alex Jones' removal from Facebook, YouTube, Apple and Spotify over the past 24 hours, prompting even some of the bomb thrower's staunch critics to voice censorship concerns.

Apple removed Jones’ podcasts on Sunday and then YouTube and Facebook both declared on Monday that he was violating their terms and policies with his rhetoric. Spotify also removed all episodes of “The Alex Jones Show” from its service. Jones quickly became one of the top trends across social media with critics celebrating that he was pulled from the tech giants and others coming to his defense -- sort of.

Media Research Center President Brent Bozell echoed many pundits, stating that, while Jones is not to be taken seriously, censoring him could result in further actions against people that aren’t accepted by the mainstream media.

When they start to censor people, I wonder if the censoree has hit on an element of the truth that the media elite and other political powers don't want out in the public arena.

Say what you will about Alex Jones and his hysterics, but he was instrumental in getting Trump elected in 2016 and remains a staunch Trump supporter to this day.

Alex Jones has been talking crap and saying controversial things for years...now all of a sudden they all decide to banish him?

Sounds like the actions of people who have something to fear...something that is coming soon, like preparing for a storm...

I don’t necessarily have a problem about them removing Jones, if they did so individually, but them all doing it simultaneously like this is really worrisome. It smacks of coordinated censorship, the consolidation of media, as though they’re in cahoots rather than their own separate things that each have their own unique policy and review process when it comes to this.

Alex Jones has maasive viewership.
The tech giants pay $ millions of dollars and cannot fill a broom closet to view their fake news.

It stands to reason that the Corporate Left would first take out Alex Jones, the least sympathetic figure in the Alt Media, so the cowardly can rationalize to themselves: "Well, they didn't come for me!" Well Einstein, unless you stand for others, there won't be any others to stand for you, you genius you!

See post #6. Defines the meaning of "in cahoots".

I think Alex will be proved right. Once they kick him pff they will move on to the Republicans in general and eventually Trump himself who is already restricted.

They all share information as they’re all DNC operatives FIRST - businesses second. Google, Facebook and Apple are all massive DNC donors.

Net neutrality was all about giving kickbacks to those companies.

This is the only real worry I have for the Mid Terms. The Left through the UN pretty much controls the Internet now altogether and can shut conservatives out of access, even outside of the tech majors. If the Republicans can’t be heard by anyone out of physical earshot they will be unknowns on the ballot.

Yep the truth he tells is the problem. Obvious deep state move of censorship. Old Soviet style.

Basically.

I expect the tech giant bans to continue to be only against right-leaning individuals, groups and news sources.

Wake me up when they all boot a prominent left-wing figure or source. Until then, I root for Facebook's continued decline.

This is FAR, FAR worse than any abuses under censorship.

Censorship was when communities, through their representatives, restricted certain forms of expression that failed to meet community standards. And it was a GOOD thing.

Back then Hollywood was stricter on itself because they knew that if communities did not allow their movies to be shown in public theaters, they would take a huge financial hit. So they aimed to please the censors.

Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and other social media engaged in deceptive advertising and promotion by leading people to believe they were open platforms rather than communities with strict ideological limitations. If these platforms had been, or now were, honest, conservatives AND moderates would walk away.

These platforms could easily implement a way for various groups to filter content for what they find objectionable. That way, if people hate Alex Jones, he would not show up in their feeds or suggestion lists. Instead they want to force feed their trash on all of us.
