The media have a serious problem on their hands. They have monumentalized every trivial criticism against the President, so when they have a legitimate criticism, it gets ignored. Further, by personalizing all of their criticism, they have made this a measuring contest against a man who does not depend on them (unlike most politicians).

Take as an example the Helsinki press conference. They excoriated President Trump for saying he didn’t know “why it would” be Russia trying to interfere. When the President came out a few days later and admitted he mispoke, using the positive “would” when he meant to say “wouldn’t”, they called him a liar for accepting the blame for a serious mistake.

Americans understand mistakes. They understand especially well when said mistakes are admitted and owned by the mitaken party. But the press only sees a way to excoriate conservatives, while ignoring similar and worse from liberals.

The press, by being partisans, have damaged themselves and uplifted the President’s ability to mock them. They have no one to blame but themselves.

Last night’s CBS Weekend News: “A large right-wing parade erupted in violence in Portland.” The reporter helpfully added that many who had joined with the AntiFa people were not part of the group but were demonstrating against the “alt-right”. And while they did show the police breaking up a group throwing bottles, etc, the coverage managed to omit the fact that the tear gas was aimed at the AntiFa types. Oh, and they did include shots of a couple of Confederate flags/pins.

absolutely correct ... they totally destroyed their own credibility with their hatred of President Trump because they looked like fools when he won after they universally said he had no chance. Now, the majority of people no longer believe a word they say and have completely tuned them out, thus should President Trump every do something that truly deserves serious criticism, no one will believe them ... too bad their vile hatred of President Trump overrode the lessons of Aesop’s “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” ..
