The National Archives says it will take months to process the records Republicans have asked to see from Judge Brett M. Kavanaughs previous government work, throwing a curveball at the GOP, which had hoped to review the documents, hold hearings and confirm him to the Supreme Court before October.
The Archives said it will take at least through October to review 1 million pages that Republicans have requested to see.
And that doesnt include the 3 million additional pages Democrats have asked for. If Congress waits for those, it could push the confirmation schedule beyond the November elections and into next year, when Democrats hope to have control of the Senate.

Republican leaders said Thursday that they will plow ahead. They are scheduling a hearing for next month, before all the documents are in, and plan a vote in October at the latest.
The documents have become the biggest sticking point for President Trumps nominee to fill the seat of newly retired Justice Anthony M. Kennedy. Democrats say access to the 4 million pages would shed light on Judge Kavanaughs philosophy, and Republicans counter that Democrats are scrounging for reasons to derail the nomination.
Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Republican, called it the great paper chase. If Democrats were so interested in the material, he said, they could have sought it in 2006 when Judge Kavanaugh went through the same confirmation process to win a seat on a federal appeals court.

We need ALL the documents requested from the National Archives *plus* the documents Senate Republicans are still hiding, to be made public. Until then, NO hearings or votes should be held, Sen. Kamala D. Harris, California Democrat and a member of the Judiciary Committee, said on Twitter.

It was my understanding that DEMOCRATS have requested the enormous document dump, not Republicans.
That’s what Repubs have okayed, Dems want 3 million more. It’s in the article.
Can’t blame Obama’s people at Archives for trying to delay the confirmation vote.
...but too bad, McConnell is VERY SMART when it comes to moving judges.
Para-phrasing San Francisco Nan, we have to confirm him to see the documents.
Kavanaugh has been a judge for years. The Senate has already confirmed him at least once. His record is out there for anyone to see. This is nothing more than a stalling tactic.
When all else fail, the Democrats stall.
The whole point of the documents is to find something to hang him with. Screw the documents, just vote.
>>Until then, NO hearings or votes should be held, Sen. Kamala D. Harris, California Democrat and a member of the Judiciary Committee, said on Twitter.<<
Not your call, socialist girl.
For all the sturm und drang the hearings will proceed, dims will posture and ppoufd the table — along with a few RINOs — and Kavanaugh will be confirmed along pure party lines.
98% probability IMHO.
.
Bump!
>>It was my understanding that DEMOCRATS have requested the enormous document dump, not Republicans.<<
I think that was the request for Kavanaughs’ daughters’ school attendance record and report cards.
There’s probably something in Kavanaugh’s third-grade homework they can use against him.

“but too bad, McConnell is VERY SMART when it comes to moving judges.”
Is your statement sarcasm or is this pretty much true? Hopefully it’s the latter!
>>Theres probably something in Kavanaughs third-grade homework they can use against him.<<
I was talking about how they are going after his family to uncover dirt.
It is a given his life back to his creation will be scoured for “take Chico’s soap” moments.
Both are disgraceful.
>>Both are disgraceful.<<
IOW SOP for liberals.
It’s the latter...just Gorsuch says everything. He had a very weak hand in early 2016 and it got weaker with Trump being nominated - Bill Kristol PROMISED that the Democrats and Hillary would TROUNCE the Republicans.
McConnell held out...and got us Gorsuch. He’s doing pretty much the same here - making it very, very, painful for the Red State Dems.
Very impressive. His biggest problem, though, are a couple of RINOs that won’t give him the votes to end the 30 hour rule. If he could end that, he’d have the courts refilled virtually overnight.
If Harris, Schumer, Feinstein and their FAR LEFT comrades want to read up about Kavanaugh, they can go down to the National Archives and check out that bull**** themselves. Sandy Berger never had any problems getting stuff out of the National Archives.
Its true. The turtle has his issues but hes good on judges.
