Bombshell: Eight years ago Paul Manafort was investigated for the very same charges he has since been indicted for by special counsel Robert Mueller.
Fox News legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano made this point on Wednesday during an appearance on the networks morning show, Fox & Friends.
Whats more, a legal team led by current Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein was responsible for exonerating Manafort, as Napolitano reminded the audience.

I am starting to think this ENTIRE Manafort thing is going to come up completely empty.
I expect to see motions to dismiss starting next week.
That really is a wow. I thought double jeopardy was not allowed. Oh that’s right the government is free to do whatever it darn well pleases. Something the foolish youth, and sadly too many adults, fail to realize, and/or accept, as the reality of a strong large government.
Mr. Rosenstein, were you lying then, or are you lying now, ... remember, you are under oath...
There was no trial so there is no double jeopardy.
“I thought double jeopardy was not allowed.”
That was my first thought also. I guess there’s no double jeopardy because he wasn’t charged first go-round..??
Investigated, not tried.
They can keep investigating as long as they have money. But Manafort was not tried for the crime, so no double jeopardy.
Although, if I was on the jury and they came with Rosenstein to talk about eight years ago, there would have to be some pretty convincing evidence to get me to vote guilty.
In SOLITARY for a non-crime alleged a DECADE hence;
THAT, in a nutshell, is the FBI.
Nice when the boss tells you where all the parts are to make your job easier......
Manafort was not tried for anything 8 years ago. He was investigated and no charges were filed. Double jeopardy doesn't play into it.
These people are just bullies who want to get their way by frightening people. “Don’t mess with us. We have 1000 lawyers and an unlimited budget. We will destroy you and your family.”
The mask is off and America sees what kind of government we now have.
He wants evidence of fraud not costs of goods.
Why I bet Manafort even eats Steak and Lobster.
Exactly right.
Prosecutors brag about being able to “get” anyone they want to “get”.
License to Lie by Sydney Powell details how it was done to “get” Senator Ted Stevens (exonerated after he lost the election) and the entire Arthur Anderson company.

It is a dense book that takes some real effort. Many of the players are involved in the “Russia” investigation.
Paul Manafort, political prisoner....
Oh thats right the government is free to do whatever it darn well pleases.

That’s what happens when you have an Attorney General who would rather watch re-runs of “Gomer Pyle” than actually do his job or hold criminals to account ... and a Congress who threatens to pull a hissy fit if the President fires him because, after all, he’s a member of the “club.”
Never happen Rosenweasel will never testify never.
——Paul Manafort, political prisoner....——
Ahhhh..... succinct truth. Brillaintly stated
It depends on the meaning of is, oh an truth. What was not the truth then is the truth now.
It still sucks though, and goes as further proof that they were out to snare someone connected to President Trump, even if only briefly, with charges to justify their existence and continued BS. They should all be brought up on charges instead.
“The mask is off and America sees what kind of government we now have.”
Yes, at least insofar as our Justice “system” is concerned for sure. The idea that government prosecutors can bankrupt you to get you to cooperate needs to be changed. And having “looser pays” isn’t enough because the government has enough money that that isn’t a deterrent. We need to have something in law that holds prosecutors personally liable for their misdeeds, including serious jail time. And not just at the federal level. Look what that crook Ronnie Earl did in Austin to Tom DeLay. And what was done to Sarah Palin.
