CNN’s Jim Acosta hit back at Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday for saying that attendees at President Trump’s rally were right for heckling the CNN correspondent.
“Hannity is a propagandist for profit, peddling lies every night,” Acosta tweeted, adding that the host is “injecting poison into the nation’s political bloodstream warping public attitudes about the press.”
“I’m confident in the long run the truth will prevail,” he added.
The White House correspondent appeared to be responding to Hannity’s comments siding with attendees at a Trump rally on Tuesday, who heckled Acosta.
"I’m actually going to give your network some advice, if you have an open mind and an open heart," Hannity said during the opening monologue of his show on Tuesday after the rally, addressing Acosta. "The people of this country are screaming at you for a reason. They don’t like your unfair, abusively biased treatment of the president of the United States."
"If you want to earn the respect of all Americans, not the coastal elites in California, San Francisco and New York, maybe try reporting the entire story and getting rid of the bias," Hannity continued. "Maybe examine why people are saying this to us."
Acosta, who faced boos and chants of “CNN sucks” at the rally, tweeted after the event that the response to CNN's presence was a “sad scene.”
“I’m very worried that the hostility whipped up by Trump and some in conservative media will result in somebody getting hurt,” Acosta wrote. “We should not treat our fellow Americans this way. The press is not the enemy.”
Hannity is a prominent supporter of Trump on cable news.
Trump has repeatedly attacked CNN and other outlets, labeling them "fake news."
The president also retweeted on Tuesday a tweet by his son Eric Trump, who labeled a video of Trump supporters chanting "CNN sucks" at Acosta with the caption "#Truth."
“CNN is a propagandist for profit, peddling lies every night,” Acosta tweeted.

Jim Acosta is a far left-wing pundit who falsely presents himself as an objective reporter. He accuses Hannity of what he himself is doing. Hannity is a conservative commentator and presents himself as such, but he has far more journalistic integrity than Acosta could ever hope to have, and Hannity is not even a journalist.
