House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Tuesday called for Twitter to ban the account of an independent congressional candidate in Oregon who made offensive remarks about first lady Melania Trump.
This attack on @FLOTUS is disgraceful, McCarthy said in a tweet, referring to remarks made by candidate Mark Roberts on Monday.
Comments like these have no business on any platform," the California Republican said, while also tagging Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey in the tweet. "This account should be banned ASAP.

I assume Kevin is saying this because he is afraid of losing the House?
It took him over 12 hours to finally decide that he was ‘outraged!’. Not a lot of fire in the belly. He does as he’s told. That is my impression of him.
When your name is McCarthy and you demand people be banned from things, the leftist memes just write themselves. Maybe he ought to pick some different way to try to fake people into thinking he’d be a tough-guy speaker.
Fat chance
So where is the outrage from OREGON candidates, including the female opponent running as a Democrat? Very telling when feminists don’t stand up against sexist attacks on conservatives.
Good to see him calling this creep out.
Where are the other Republicans?
LOL. And note that banning them from Twitter is not an infringement of free speech.
Does this stupid jack ass understand free speech? I have observed him enough to know that her was a boehner butt boy. He is a Paul rino butt boy.. he will never speak for me. I am the party of Trump. The republicrats make me puke.
Go away Kevin!
Quit your useless grandstanding!
You can count on McCarthy to do exactly the wrong thing at exactly the wrong time. Everyone else in the party is raging against censorship, and McCarthy is encouraging it.
Republicans who aren’t for free speech need to be retired.
> LOL. And note that banning them from Twitter is not an infringement of free speech.
As long as Twitter claims common carrier protection and is a primary vector for the petition of redress of grievances and other communications with elected officials, it sure as hell is.
Didn’t a judge just rule that President Trump couldn’t block people from responding to his tweets because he is an elected official? BTW what happened to the congressman that said Peter Styrok deserved a purple heart and then blocked the outraged military?
That’s right, and not only was he barred from blocking people, he was barred from doing so on his PERSONAL account, on 1st Amendment grounds.
Kevin wants to be the next Speaker LOL!
Kevin wants to be the next Speaker a little too much.
If you would like more information about what's happening in Oregon, please FReepmail me.
“I assume Kevin is saying this because he is afraid of losing the House?”
That was my first thought!
ditto. You beat me to it.
