Tesla owners fume about delays for service
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | July 27, 2018 | Russ Mitchell

As Tesla ramps up its Fremont factory to escape what Elon Musk called “production hell” with its new Model 3 electric sedan, some customers are enduring their own state of suffering trying to get Teslas serviced.

Parts shortages, long repair delays and problems getting through on customer help lines have led to scenes of strife at Tesla’s service centers.

A Tesla is truly a zero emission vehicle. You break it, it can't be fixed, you park it and the end result is zero emissions.

" Jon McNeill, said on the Tesla Motors Club forum the company had streamlined customer service “to make contacting the right person at Tesla easier.” Six months later, McNeill quit Tesla to become chief operating officer at Lyft."

It's best then, to avoid Lyft, too.

Was on a trip thru the desert SW recently, on I-10. Stopped over in Van Horn, TX - an overgrown truck stop of a town. At the Hampton Inn they had 8(!) parking spaces reserved for Tesla charging only. Eight Tesla charging stations in the middle of nowhere. All empty, of course. Empty again when we came through town going the other way a week later.

Got to figure Tesla is paying Hampton for those.

Expensive ‘toys’ means expensive repairs... So stop your whining and guess what... You already received a taxpayer handout when you bought your electric ‘toy’, so now when it breaks down... You need to pony up.

Otherwise, do what sensible people do... Buy yourself a Ford F-150 and enjoy.

Tesla is not only in “production hell” but continues to burn cash and is close to bankruptcy. When it formally files, its investors will lose everything (~$290/share to 0 within seconds of a filing) and the environmental movement that placed so much emotional energy, financial and political capital into this company will truly go into shock.

My sister lives in a small town in Iowa. She bought a Tesla, they delivered it to her door, gave her an owners manual and said “see you in a year” (when a representative would stop back to see how she was doing). No local dealer nearby, of course.

This is the arrogance that kills me. We will do it better in California, put the electrics aside. Where is your logistics infrastructure which includes repairs Elon? Everybody bitches, pisses, and moans about how bad the big 3 are. Really? They get it done, they can build cars, they know serial production and they have the resources to do more like service. He would have been better off to be a design house and farmed the production and service to one of the big 3. I am so tempted to say some other things but I won’t...

One of the analysts on Varney & Co. refers to Tesla as a "dumpster fire". Without being propped up by taxpayer money, things are going badly.

...

Tesla doesn’t buy advertising in the SF Chronicle or any other paper.

People who buy Teslas are usually fans of the cars and read owner forums. They know this article is a hit piece. This article will work on the haters, but not people who want to buy a Tesla.

If a Tesla can’t be fixed by a mobile crew, owners get a loaner car.

There is a reason CR has them ranked number one for customer service.

When people aren’t bitching about too few Superchargers, they are bitching about too many.

Stop whining! The environment is more important than you.

Would you rather hear animals scream as they are slowly dissolved by acid rain?

Govt. subsidies base solely on environmental policy...

...

Over 90% of subsidies for the largest recipients come from state and local governments, and that’s true for Tesla, too. The tax incentives are competitive and usually based on a company adding jobs and increasing economic activity in a local area, not environmental policy.

It probably is somehow funded by the taxpaying Citizen (tax write-off, grant or something fraudulent). It is true everywhere they have put these “charging” units. LOL.
