Toronto City Council Urges Ban on Handgun, Ammunition Sales in Response to Sunday Shooting

Toronto City Council responded to Sunday’s shooting by voting 41-4 in support of a city-wide ban on handguns and ammunition sales.

On July 22, 2018, Faisal Hussain opened fire in Toronto’s Greektown, killing two and wounding 13. CBS News reported that Toronto Mayor John Tory reacted to the shooting by saying, “Guns are too readily available to too many people.”

The National Post quoted Tory saying, “Why does anyone in this city need to have a gun at all? I know answering questions like this won’t fully eliminate tragedies like this, but even if we can prevent one of these incidents, then in my view it is a discussion worth having and having very soon.”

Face-palm. Just when you thought the administration in some cities couldn't prove themselves stoopider than rocks, the folks in toronto canaDUH prove us wrong. And by a 41-4 vote. Why does anyone in this city need a gun? To possibly stop some assclown (with no known motive) from killing innocent people? Guess not.

Why would anyone in Toronto need to be a Muslim? Why not outlaw Islam 41-4?

Premier Doug Ford confirmed this morning that he would introduce legislation to reduce the number of Councillors in Toronto from 47 to 25 to match federal and provincial riding boundaries. LOL

Well at least we can always count on Monty Python and the Lumber Jack skit if we need further laughter at the folks in canaDUH. Yes, I know there are lots of conservative folks there too. Put down your bows and arrows.

So handguns very difficult to get in Canada need further banning so you couldn’t possibly protect yourselves against islamic terror. Who gets their weapons illegally in the first place.

"OK, so the next step will be pointed knives?"

And please don't forget the knitting needles! An enraged pensioner might be tempted to do something drastic!!

Hey, it could happen and banning them will be just about as effective at reducing crime as banning hand guns.

Just one more thing … if it is only a Muslim lone wolf who commits atrocities and we should not judge all “moderate” Muslims by the actions of one, then why is it if a kid steals his parents’ guns and shoots up his school, we must now impose gun control on every gun owner in America (or in this case, Canada)?

So, do not “profile” all Muslims by the actions of one, but go ahead and “profile” all gun-owners by the actions of one.

When the Toronto Maple Leafs were winning Stanley Cups on a regular basis in the 1960s, Canadian firearms laws were quite casual and accompanied with much lower violent crime and homicide rates in Toronto and elsewhere in the country. What changed?

Why do clueless people need to be on this city council? They should quit and leave the city ASAP.

Stupid is as stupid does.

“What changed? “

Just like Australia where a high casualty mass shooting brought out opportunistic anti-gun politicians who exploited public emotions to enact strict gun control. Same thing happened in Canada a few years ago and filthy American politicians are perpetually trying to do it.
