In an important first step towards fulfilling a commitment made by Kim Jong Un at the June 12 Singapore Summit, new commercial satellite imagery of the Sohae Satellite Launching Station (North Koreas main satellite launch facility since 2012) indicates that the North has begun dismantling key facilities. Most notably, these include the rail-mounted processing buildingwhere space launch vehicles are assembled before moving them to the launch padand the nearby rocket engine test stand used to develop liquid-fuel engines for ballistic missiles and space launch vehicles. Since these facilities are believed to have played an important role in the development of technologies for the Norths intercontinental ballistic missile program, these efforts represent a significant confidence building measure on the part of North Korea.
Dismantlement at the Launch Pad
Commercial satellite imagery of the launch pad from July 20 shows that the rail-mounted processing/transfer structure has been moved to the middle of the pad, exposing the underground rail transfer pointone of the few times it has been seen in this location. The roof and supporting structure have been partially removed and numerous vehicles are presentincluding a large construction crane. An image from two days later shows the continued presence of the crane and vehicles. Considerable progress has been made in dismantling the rail-mounted processing/transfer structure. One corner has been completely dismantled and the parts can be seen lying on the ground. In both images the two fuel/oxidizer bunkers, main processing building and gantry tower remain untouched.

Two days later fewer vehicles are present and the test stand superstructure has been completely dismantled, leaving only the base, which is also in the process of being removed. No additional progress is noted on the demolition of the older fuel/oxidizer bunkers. In both images, the two newer fuel/oxidizer bunkers and vehicle garage remain untouched, as does the concrete foundation of the test stand. Given the state of activity, work is likely to have begun sometime within the past two weeks.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The satellite images are very telling...
Let’s be sure the Norks aren’t taking down colorful cardboard missile and bomb parts to look good to overhead satellites.
Watch for “U Haul, Your Moving Adventure” signs on other sides.
They have U-Haul in North Korea?
It is a start
All I know is that from experience, when government is involved, it takes forever. I expect the same thing in North Korea
Stolen cardboard technology smuggled in from Russia.
Trump correct again. Lying media lied again.
Hopefully NK has a long term approach for retraining those employeed in their nuclear and missile industries so they can have gainful employment and incentive to not take their “skills” elsewhere (e.g., Iran). If they follow Trump’s advice, they could have a great economy with lots of construction and tapping into their natural resources.
South Korea is poised and ready for a unified country, they have a very ancient culture and only the communist influence pulled things sideways
I guess many do not understand just how far back these countries go and they are ready to become one again and work together for prosperity which is not there in a socialist society
They were under the thrall of the CIA and other agencies, Kim has been outside the country for schooling etc. and he has the chance to make his country part of the whole Korea again and not be in constant military struggle. The world is changing and they see it, it may be hard for some to allow this to sink in but it will happen
BTW, the armaments they had from post WW2 came from excess inventory our military had in place for the invasion of Japan that was not needed. They gave it to Korea and Vietnam, and how did that work out for us?
Continuous war virtually, and money for the Military Industrial Complex as it is for NATO and Europe.
Watch and see...
