Putin met the last four US presidents since he took office in the 1990s.
The two leaders met again in June 2000 in Moscow after Putin became president of Russia and Clinton was in his final year in office.
After Bush was sworn into office in January 2001, the two leaders met for the first time in June for a summit in Slovenia.
Putin met with the recently sworn-in Obama for the first time in July 2009 in Moscow. Obama reportedly emerged from the meeting feeling confident and optimistic in resetting relations with Putin.
"We think there's an excellent opportunity to put US-Russian relations on a much stronger footing," Obama said.

I’m fairly certain that the narrative surrounding President Trump’s meeting with Putin was scripted well before the meeting took place. If the MSM had any substantial analysis, they might be worth listening to. As it is, they are nothing but a bunch of braying donkeys. They aren’t worth hearing.
I look at Putin eyes looking at President Obama and I see “I want to kick your ass but you haven’t weaken your military enough” in his eyes.
Democrats want war with Russia just to make Trump look bad. They don’t care if 100 million people die as a result. They just want the leverage.
Putin was so mad at Obama err the world too 2010, 2011 because Obama policy tanked the dollar.

Putin learned well how to be a spy. If I remember correctly one of his jobs was turning westerners into spies for the Soviets. I think anyway.

My feelings exactly. From the timing of the indictments of the 12 russians to all the bellyaching after Trump and Putin met, it was all scripted. And I avoided watching a their scripted outrage like the plague.
Glad to hear that Trump is doubling down and inviting Putin to Washington. Shove it down their throats.

DemoRats and GOPe have been using Russia Scare to bully Trump and his supporters.

I think what happened to sour Putin against the USA is that while Obama (and Hillary) claimed they wanted to “reset” Russian relations - his administration was involved in the coup against the Ukrainian government in 2013/2014 (with Soros aid) and added Ukraine as well as several Eastern European countries under NATO. They also supported opposition candidates against Putin within Russia. From the Russian perspective, those are old Cold War type actions against their country. Is it really surprising then that Putin would reciprocate? This is the context which I think is missing from the current hysteria about Russian meddling.
It really is quite hypocritical of the US to be so outraged over 2016 when for the last decade we’ve been giving it to Putin in spades.
I need to grab those as well.
