Oh yes, I'd like to see us spend the same - no argument from me! I was just pointing out that the current target is 2% and we hit it - there are a lot of NATO countries who don't.
Personally I think NATO is past its sell-by date anyway.

Right with you on that one. At least we built a couple of large Carriers for a more global role, although I wish we'd spent the extra for angled flight decks and CATOBAR. I suspect an extensive refit coming in the future.
The engines on the Type 45 Destroyers need sorting out, too and we need more of them. The Astute class subs turned oyt well, but again, we need more.
