Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein visited the White House on Tuesday for what was described as "routine meetings."
Rosenstein, who is overseeing Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of possible Trump campaign collusion with Russia, did not meet with President Trump, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement.
Sanders did not identify the officials with whom Rosenstein met during his visit.

He should be fired for the timing of his Russian indictment announcement. It was CLEARLY designed to result in this fallout. It’s not like it couldn’t wait.
Trump needs to do two things right away:
1) Fire Rosenstein for his PR stunt. Trump cannot permit what has become a fourth branch of government to interfere with, or conduct its own, foreign policy. Trump has to restore authority over these rogue agencies.
2) Commence the process of massively declassifying thousands of documents relating to the Russia probe and related FISA applications.
Think President Trump needs to do what he thinks he needs to do. I’m not of the mind that he needs to do any massive action.
He clearly knows what he’s doing. Big things are coming out on #SpyGate, of this there should be no doubt.

The latest Deep State effort to undercut the president was a particularly devious one. Rosenstein and Mueller timed their announcement of the Russian indictments just before Trump’s critical meeting with Putin. Regardless of how we see this, THEY view it as a successful “operation” against Trump. There will be more.
And if you noticed, their allies in the media were part of the plot. Listen to the Helsinki press conference again; both Reuters and AP press the same issue. This is no accident.
The point is, we can expect even more of these kinds of ambushes, some of which could have profoundly damaging impacts on the president’s ability to conduct both foreign policy.
The latest Deep State effort against Trump is an indication of just how far they are willing to go to destroy him. I don’t think Trump fully grasps the severity of the threat they pose to him. He seems oblivious to it and unwilling to take decisive action to remove them before they strike again.
Yes, thanks for your detailed comments but I’m not in agreement. President Trump is not yielding to any domestic criticism; he’s acting as he always does to get results.
He’s also not going to be on the receiving end. A look at his Twitter account shows anything but.
When he hits back will be a thing of beauty. I have no qualms about how he will fare against the Deep State and their individual actors.
