The corporate owners of the Mandalay Bay casino filed suit against the victims of last years Las Vegas concert mass shooting, claiming it has no liability for the massacre, according to a published report on Monday.
MGM Resorts International went to federal courts in Nevada and California and took on more than 1,000 shooting victims, saying claims against the hotel giant "must be dismissed."

Las Vegas lawyer Robert Eglet, who is representing several victims, told the paper that the hotels unusual action is a pre-emptive strike to get the cases heard in federal court instead of state court. Englet said MGM must believe it has better chances of victory in a federal case.

Mandalay Bay ... had no duty to exercise due diligence when the shooter carried in an arsenal of weapons and set up a sniper's nest ...
The political ties and motivations of the MGM mucky-mucks were suspect from the word go. The bizarre behavior of the FBI and, in turn, the local coppers also speaks to their cold-blooded cynicism.
Moving the case to federal court allows access to judges long ago paid off and under their influence.

Well, there’s what’s probably the worst public relations move in the history of ever.
What illegal action was Mandalay Bay required to prevent regarding that “arsenal”?
Is Mandalay Bay required to:
- screen all incoming patrons for possession of firearms?
- screen all patron’s luggage
- act as an agent of law enforcement?
- conduct searches that law enforcement would not be able to conduct without a warrant?
Lawyers....$$$$$$$......lawyers....$$$$$$
What does one expect from the most heinous city on the planet
The City of Paradise is not that bad
The city of Las Vegas that’s a few miles down the road
HMMM. This move may be a no-brainer from a legal/lawyer perspective, but good lord does this company not have a PR person with any balls or brains?

Obviously you don't ever go to an airport or visit a government building.
What did Paddock do at the hotel, that was illegal, prior to the day of the shooting?
Just a small tiny bit misleading.
Totally agree. Personally think the hotel has the same liability that Ford would have if the murderer loaded up an Expedition with ANFO and drove into the crowd, i.e. none. But the PR impact of suing victims is awful. IANAL but is seems that with the money Mandalay Bay is paying their lawyers, they could come up with a better solution.
Smashed out two windows and made hellacious noise for minutes firing guns and guards didn’t want yo confront him.
But no accountability and don’t press us to see secutity camera footage
Obviously you are not aware that an Airport and Government facility is different than a private hotel. Further, that Congress has passed LAWS regarding the access to those facilities and that equitable laws are not in place for private hotels. And further still, that airports and government buildings have law enforcement officers present to enforce said laws.
You won’t see the camera footage. I assure you they have virtually every second of his movements since he first stepped out of the car.
BUT this wasn’t a random attack. al qaeda claimed credit, and the footage would prove it was a successful terrorist attack on US soil, and the sheep CANNOT BE ALLOWED to know that!
At least that’s my take. What’s yours?
If a person’s stay at a hotel is three or four days long, that person can bring in a few pieces of luggage a few times over a period of time that accumulates a large number of weapons. How is the hotel going to prevent that?
Is the hotel obligated to inspect every piece of luggage that comes into it’s facility?
One guy pulled this idiotic stunt.
Does that mean every hotel in America is now forced to inspect every item that comes into their facility?
Do we really want to turn every hotel into an airport situation with federal screeners?
It boggles the mind that a person could be so selfish, unthinking, and crewel to other humans like this guy was.
Not only do they kill innocent people, they also cause innocent businesses to be subject to blame for something they couldn’t prevent.
Ambulance chaser attorneys swoop in. Then businesses are forced to do something that is ridiculous.
I say no to TSA in hotels.
Frankly, you can remove them from the airports too.
When I was married my attractive wife would be pulled aside for special screening, while I was forced to walk on ahead. All the old hags just marched right through.
S—t happens. You shouldn’t make 100% of the people pay, for the 0.0000000001% of the people who get hurt or killed.
You wish you could stop all bad things, but there’s a point you shouldn’t go beyond.
Turning our public facilities into some sort of combat zone to stop that one in 100 million incident is ridiculous.
An airport or a government building would not seem to be privately owned businesses, I don’t think. Is the hotel public property?
