Putin calls 2016 interference claims 'ridiculous,' but says only facts were leaked

Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed talk of Russian influence on the 2016 U.S. election as “utterly ridiculous,” but said that only facts were leaked following the hacking of Democratic groups.

Fox News host Chris Wallace was asking Putin about special counsel Robert Mueller’s indictment Friday of 12 Russian military intelligence officers accused of hacking a number of Democratic officials as part of the Russian effort to tip the 2016 election in President Trump’s favor.

“Do you really believe that someone acting from the Russian territory could have influenced the United States and influenced the choice of millions of Americans?” Putin responded through a translator.

“This is utterly ridiculous,” he added.

The comments came after Trump and Putin’s summit in Helsinki earlier Monday. In a post-summit press conference, Putin denied Russia interfered in the U.S. presidential election.

“I had to reiterate things I said several times, including during our personal contacts, that the Russian state has never interfered and is not going to interfere into internal American affairs including election process,” Putin said.

Trump accepted that denial.

“He just said it’s not Russia,” Trump said. “I will say this: I don't see any reason why it would be.”

Trump and Putin’s statements are at odds with the U.S. intelligence community’s unanimous assessment that Russia interfered in the U.S. election and favored Trump, as well as the conclusion of federal criminal investigators. Pressed by Wallace on the indictments, Putin said everything that was released through WikiLeaks was accurate.

“Was it some rigging of facts? Was it some forgery of facts? That's the important thing that I am trying to — point that I'm trying to make,” Putin said. “Was this — any false information planted? No. It wasn't. These hackers that are being discussed — and I'll get back to it; just bear with me for a moment — as we're getting told, they hacked a certain email account and there was information about manipulations conducted within the Democratic Party to incline the process in favor of one candidate. And as far as I know, the entire party leadership resigned. They admitted the fact of their manipulations.”

Asked if he was saying Russia’s actions are acceptable because it was fact, Putin reiterated that everything that came out was true.

“The information that I am aware of, there's nothing false about it,” Putin said. “Every single grain of it is true. And the Democratic leadership admitted it — the first point.”

The former KGB agent apparently has more integrity than our entire Deep State and its media allies.

Facts are missiles in a world of Mainstream Media/Deep State lies. Hence their wild, deranged shrieking.

American citizens are sick of this Russian interference crap. We all voted with no Russians in the booth. We don’t care.

"U.S. intelligence community’s unanimous assessment that Russia interfered in the U.S. election"

Maybe if they could release whatever evidence they have....

You just can’t make this shit up.
Bizarre days.

A Russian leader lecturing American media on the truth. And prevailing.

What about George Soros’ influence on our elections, and his meddling in the elections of other nations? What about Donna Brazile giving Hillary debate questions. Is that meddling or trying to influence an election? Sure seems so - with much more of a chance of having an impact than anything the Russians are being accused of. What about foreign money going to the Clinton Foundation, and then making its way to Hillary's campaign (not to mention the pockets of the Clintons and of those they ‘bought off’). What about Hollywood making movies and TV series with direct political content supporting their candidates and agenda? Is that counted as a campaign contribution?

“How dare these foreigners supposedly hack a US political party and reveal how corrupt they really are by posting their own e-mails! I am micro-aggressed by this troubling scandal.”

Yup. The Coast Guard was on the ball with that review.

What about Hollywood’s interference in our election process? Overt messages in films, again and again?

For Russian actions within the American domestic information space to have altered the course of American politics, above what the American people could do, they would have to have overcome the massive information and its manipulation by both major candidates, both makor parties at all levels across the country, thousands of individual political action committee’s, the American major media industry, plus the actions of millions of American citizens, with everything reported in and reflected in the social media, which altogether was MASSIVE and makes what has been reported about Russian efforts look like a fly on an elephant.

The truth is, in my view, hacking the DNC did not change anything. Hillary was still going to lose.
