How old is dear old dad? If he is still in his 50's/60's then he should be arguing for himself and not using his son as a spokesperson. If he's older then he really should be buying a much more reliable car.
If the son really cared about "dear old dad" then he would have talked him out of an electric car that could leave him stranded in the middle of nowhere in the cold.
To Change the subject pay stubs should reflect all the employers cost as part of GROSS pay.

That was with a production of 2000 a week. They are now on the way to 10,000 a week.

Tesla or for that matter most products sold manufacturer direct avoid middleman markups. I’m not acquainted with auto dealer markups so can’t say much about them.
While working in Ontario for about a year, I had to purchase quite a few industrial items. I respected the company’s ‘buy Canadian’ policy but rebelled in one instance as the price was 50% greater than off the shelf US price plus it was going to take several weeks to get the items. Hardly off the shelf. The manufacturer was setup for international shipping and even had an ecommerce website to use. I had the material in 2-days, duty paid at a radically lower delivered price. I really didn’t like getting screwed by the CA distributor that had an exclusive territory for Ontario and Quebec.
I think the gist of this article is that those who ordered from a dealer are being given preferential treatment.from the article:

Dealers need to make a profit and not even Tesla with their direct sales to consumers is making a profit...And that doesn't even get into what a dealer would have to have to simply service a Tesla. Beginning with trained techs.

Tesla actually has very good margins on car sales. They don’t show a profit because of their considerable investment in increased production capacity.
I’m right with you on that. I fill my Jetta once every two weeks. In that time frame there are 320 miles to work, 60 to church miles and sundry errands. Usually it takes 11 to 11.5 gallons to top off...like clockwork. I’m not cluttering up a station’s pump island as often, and when there not long.
I want some money, too.
He’s upset because his fellow taxpayers are no longer on the hook for his indulgence?! This doesn’t even move the dial on the “sympathy” meter but it definitely pegs the schadenfreude one!

The per share price isn’t the issue, it is the P/E ratio. Take a look, last time I checked it was thousands to one. Considering their production issues and that these subsidies will run out I wouldn’t touch this stock with a ten ft pole.

If she/you didn’t get a rebate then the manufacture got the incentives for building them.
Take away ALL the government subsidies and nobody is going to buy the glorified golf carts.

It’s a good thing that Canada doesn’t have a 1st Amendment, or some lefty with a bend-over judge would get an injunction against it on ‘free speech’ grounds.
