Mueller’s ‘Pit Bull’ Arranged Meeting With Reporters To Discuss Manafort Investigation

Justice Department documents released on Friday confirm that the DOJ attorney known as Robert Mueller’s “pit bull” arranged a meeting with journalists in April 2017 to discuss an investigation into Paul Manafort.

The documents show that Andrew Weissmann arranged a meeting with DOJ and FBI officials and four Associated Press reporters on April 11, 2017, just over a month before Mueller was appointed special counsel.

Manafort’s lawyers obtained the documents on June 29 and revealed them in a briefing filed in federal court in Virginia. The attorneys are pushing for a hearing into what they say are possible leaks of secret grand jury information, false information and potentially classified materials from the meeting.

“The meeting raises serious concerns about whether a violation of grand jury secrecy occurred,” a lawyer for Manafort, Kevin Downing, wrote in a motion requesting a hearing. “Based on the FBI’s own notes of the meeting, it is beyond question that a hearing is warranted.”

Manafort’s attorneys have for months questioned whether Weissmann, the number two official on the Mueller team, leaked information about Manafort to The AP. At the time of the meeting, Weissmann served as chief of the Justice Department’s criminal fraud section.

He previously served as general counsel to Mueller when he was FBI director. Weissmann joined the special counsel’s investigation when it was formed on May 17, 2017. (RELATED: Meet The Very Shady Prosecutor Working On Robert Mueller’s Team)

The existence of meeting between AP reporters and DOJ officials was first reported in January. The government confirmed it for the first time in a pre-trial hearing held on June 29.

Well, why shouldn’t members of the DNC Enforcement Branch meet and co-ordinate with their colleagues in the DNC PR Branch? /s

The Dems get away with this stuff because the GOP gives them top cover because they are/were attacking Trump. I certainly won’t spend a minute defending the next Scooter Libby GOPe type that the Dems attack and take down.

Give it a little thought. The corrupt crowd inside the DC bubble who have been putting biased, corrupt, judges in place ever since the first Clinton term were sure to stuff the jurisdictions around DC before they did anything else. That ensured that even if tripped up on little things they'd go before someone they had in their pocket.

So, yeah, there's a 80% or better chance of getting a biased, corrupt, judge in anyplace near DC. The odds go even higher when someone like Mueller is in charge.

Either every judge brought in on this case thus far is biased to the left, or Paul Manafort has some lousy lawyers. 90% of any legal decision goes against him and in favor of Mueller. Same with Cohen.

That's because the judges are, in fact, biased, just not in the political sense necessarily. The entire judiciary is always biased in favor of the government. The judiciary is part of the government and protects its interest first and foremost, just like the rest of the government does.

Geez, I don’t ever remember a special prosecutor using the press to pursue his victim... however do you defend yourself from charges drummed up this way? And widely publicized before any trial?

That means they knew of Muellers appoint a Month before he was appointed.

Smells like SEDITIOUS CONSPIRACY. Comey, Rosenstein and Mueller should get their affairs in order...

To bad we don’t have a real Attorney General to bring a little justice to an out of control corrupt DOJ/FBI. Fire Jeff Sessions

That means they knew of Muellers appoint a Month before he was appointed.

It certainly means the investigation into Manafort predates the Mueller appointment (and raises questions about why Mueller took it over) and it also suggests that the FBI has a pattern of leaking info and then incestuously using accounts based on that leaked info as rationale to obtain warrants as it has been proven to have done with the pee dossier.

But how do you draw the conclusion that it demonstrates pre-knowledge of Mueller's forthcoming appointment?

Andrew Weissmann—this rat appears to be the worst of the worst. Wouldn’t mind seeing him in solitary confinement in Manafort’s place.

Lets see how this is reacted to. I think we approach the point where Trump will call this to a halt.

This is a part of a larger insanity. The Globalist are loosing their mind. England has it too.

So do we know when the Manafort investigation began? We know that was an earlier investigation of Manafort but did a new investigation begin at some point around the time of the election? Who authorized that investigation and put Andrew Weissmann on it? Presumably, either the DOJ leadership or the US Attorney (Preet Bharra?) would have to have authorized that.
