Sure we are....but as the flood waters hit they had no choice but retreat further into the cave.....this is the entrance.
This looks to be the third chamber possibly the divers are operating out of
Your’e absolutely right about the lack of oxygen in an air chamber in a cave system. This is one of the things stressed in the cave diving class I took long ago. Never ever breathe the ambient air if you surface anywhere in a cave diving passageway. High CO2 content and low O2 can cause unconsciousness very quickly. In a cave diving environment this is almost always fatal.
.....”High CO2 content and low O2 can cause unconsciousness very quickly. In a cave diving environment this is almost always fatal”.....
It was stated the diver who died placing the air tanks “lost consciousness”....could be happened just the way you explained.
It just struck me that since the boys didn’t know how to swim when they entered the cave, exiting across a body of water that required swimming might have been a big factor in the decision they made to enter deeper into the cave rather than swimming to safety.

That’s very helpful, thanks for replying.
That would explain it, sad mistake. But he died trying to help others. Brave man.
