Firstly the Confederate monument is on private property. Secondly, its a cemetery dude. Get real. Finally, I happen to find it offensive to call for removing Confederate monuments. So those who do so should remove themselves from public life so as to avoid giving offense to me, because its all about being able to claim we are “offended” by something - right PCers?

Technically, since the Fremont Chamber of Commerce is part of government, Lenin’s statue is NOT on private property, and thus actually CAN be removed on a vote.

As it is, ignoring that it’s extremely distasteful to have a statue commemorating a known mass-murderer, I also fail to see how Lenin even contributes to American history in any way, certainly any direct way. At least with the Confederate statues, they WERE definitely a huge part of American history due to the Civil War, and thus deserve to be placed up. Heck, I have disgust for Harvey Milk due to his proclivities, but I’m even willing to have a statue put up in his honor solely because, as bad as he is, he still played some part in American history. Not to mention, I wouldn’t even mind statues of King Louis XVI being erected since it WAS thanks largely to him that America even exists as an independent nation. I fail to see how Lenin contributed in any way to American history barring near-Communist takeovers of America and its allies.

I’m not fond of the ex-mayor at all for being a leftist and a homosexual rapist, but he actually has a point in requesting the removal of the Lenin statue in this case. That said, he DOESN’T have a point in demanding for the States relating to Confederate Soldiers.
