Woman Who Asked Pruitt to Resign in Restaurant Hopes Confrontation Now 'Empowers Everyone'

WASHINGTON -- The D.C. mom who confronted now-former EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt on Monday and asked him to resign said she was "jumping up and down" at today's news that he had stepped down.

"I have accepted the resignation of Scott Pruitt as the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Within the Agency Scott has done an outstanding job, and I will always be thankful to him for this. The Senate confirmed Deputy at EPA, Andrew Wheeler, will on Monday assume duties as the acting Administrator of the EPA," President Trump tweeted this afternoon. "I have no doubt that Andy will continue on with our great and lasting EPA agenda. We have made tremendous progress and the future of the EPA is very bright!"

Kristin Mink, a teacher with a 2-year-old son, said she saw Pruitt having lunch three tables away from her at Teaism, an Asian-inspired tea house chain in D.C., on Monday and went up to speak with him. The interaction was filmed and she posted it on Facebook.

"We deserve to have someone at the EPA who actually does protect our environment, someone who actually does believe in climate change and takes it seriously," Mink told Pruitt. "I would urge you to resign before your scandals push you out."

She then began to detail some of her issues with the EPA. Pruitt did not respond and she said that he and his security detail left the restaurant before she got back to her own table.

Mink told DCist after Pruitt's resignation was announced, "It's not like I can take all the credit for this."

"The great majority goes to effective fact-based research of quality journalists who exposed the depth of Scott Pruitt’s corruption," she said.

Mink said she hopes her lunchtime interaction with Pruitt "empowers everyone who'd like to speak to their public officials -- if you have something to say, say it."

Pruitt was at the White House with other cabinet members on Wednesday evening, celebrating the Fourth of July and watching fireworks.

In his resignation letter today, Pruitt told Trump that "it is extremely difficult for me to cease serving you in this role first because I count it a blessing to be serving you in any capacity, but also, because of the transformative work that is occurring."

"However, the unrelenting attacks on me personally, my family, are unprecedented and have taken a sizable toll on all of us," he wrote. "My desire in service to you has always been to bless you as you make important decisions for the American people."

Pruitt is the subject of at least 13 different federal ethics probes over allegations such as misuse of taxpayer funds and using his office for personal enrichment. On Tuesday, CNN reported that Pruitt had asked Trump to let him replace Attorney General Jeff Sessions at the Justice Department; Pruitt denied the report.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington released a one-word statement in response to Pruitt's resignation: "Good."

How did she know who Scott Pruitt was?

He looks like a lot of folks who cross my path everyday.

I would not even recognize him if he sat across me at a restaurant...

And now you have a former Coal CEO in charge of the EPA...

Be careful what you wish for!

ANYONE replacing Sessions would be okay with me. I’m hoping after the midterms, win or lose, Trump fires his butt.

I really wish Pruitt hadn’t resigned and made it so publicly obvious that he did it in response to harassment. All he’s done is make it open season on everyone in Trump’s administration. I hope Wheeler upsets them twice as bad.

I wish that more people would stand up to liberal bullies.

They throw tantrums when they are frustrated that their bullying is having no effect. Unfortunately, in this case, Mr. Pruitt took the path of encouraging the bullying.

He was effective in turning the EPA back to its scientific roots, and that upset the left. I just hope that his successor holds even more firmly to science, purges the EPA of political advocacy, and has a thicker skin.

I knew this witch would take credit for it.
I agree, I would have no idea if he were in the same restaurant as I. It stinks of a targeted, staged attack.

Here is why Satan will win (at first).

If you did this to an Obama or Hillary Clinton administration official, you would be identified and very publically destroyed. Either you would be SWAT-ed to death, or your car would ‘mysteriously’ accelerate to 120mpg on your home street, or you would be arrested and imprisoned for life for some made-up charge.

However, doing this to a Trump administration official is safe. Trump will do none of those things.

So Satan gets a win-win. He can order his minions to harass our officials all the way out of a job with no consequences, but if we do the same, we’re screwed.

I believe she teaches at the posh Sidwell Friends school, an extremely expensive private institution where all the white liberals send their brats so they don’t have to mix with the inner city black children. I’m sure her phoniness fits right in.

It is why we need a law that when a former President leaves the White House... he or she MUST LEAVE THE DC AREA!!!

And then she also used her baby as a human shield to elicit more sympathy...very scripted. And it just happened to be caught on video! By whom, her husband?

That’s the school Malaria and Sharia Obama attended, eating haute cuisine lunches while their broad beamed mother forced public school kids to eat garbage.

They have the money and time to indulge in such activities, because their employers support them.

I’m getting really tired of seeing people who are effective leaders, get caught up in situations that allow the Left to effectively harass them out of office. Pruitt was his own undoing. Just like the Congressman who was HUD Secretary taking private jet rides. You simply can’t go around in any way shape or form doing stuff that is questionable today and survive the Left’s exposure. Trump’s mission is more important than any one individual in it. I am just glad that there was a backup in place for Pruitt, because the EPA is nowhere done as far as trimming is concerned.

I hope these people have good dental insurance. Saying the wrong thing to some people can result in the need for dental implants to replace missing teeth. I think that can be costly.
