Nope, vertically has been tested a zillion times. It’s barely at the “penetrate the skin” thresh hold.
About 300fps for a 30 caliber rifle bullet, and about 200fps for a 9mm handgun bullet.
Heavier bullets fall faster vertically, in general.
Off of vertical is a whole different ball game, of course.
