They didn’t. See number 90.
All of that is true, and it does explain their meddling in our elections. But I will come back to the fact that I don’t think that they could really affect the outcome, nor did they believe that they could affect the outcome. And if they did, they most certainly would not support Trump, because they are rational actors. Rational actors don’t support people who can destroy their own economy versus people that will continue policies that at least don’t hurt them.
They would have meddled with or without Trump in the mix, but not so sure they could have predicted his policies once in office...even now - how Trump will continue handle Russia remains to be seen just as it is with his approach to Kim Jong Un.
Without a doubt, including McCain.
“It seems the there were reports that Russians posted anti-Trump and/or pro-Clinton rhetoric to Facebook”
BINGO! They posted pro and anti Trump and pro and anti Clinton stuff to social media. They have a policy of trying to divide us into hostile groups. They are doing a good job at dividing us.
Buying lame Facebook ads seems less intrusive than what America does to foreign countries.
In one way, Trump is a boon for Russia, as Trump is a boon for the yet civilized world. But still, almost every pundit was telling us that the received wisdom was that Hillary was going to win, that Donald Trump was too much of a political dark horse. To say that Russia horned in is saying too little — where did it horn in, and how? We are given to believe that Russians funded and pumped pro-Trump material on Facebook. Can someone please show us the ads, and how they managed to transcend Facebook’s known bias? I can’t but continue to believe this was the equivalent of spitting in a bucket. It was to further harry the assumed victorious Hillary.
Hedging their bids — to harry the winner with a close vote.
Trump is harmful to one idea of a Russian economic model, but not harmful to another idea of it.
The real question is HOW MANY votes were changed. From what I saw of the social media material, it may be tens, if not twenty. At most.
