A female healthcare worker has been arrested in Cheshire, England on suspicion of murdering eight babies and the attempted murder of six more at the Countess of Chester Hospital. Police would not reveal whether the unnamed woman was a nurse, midwife, or doctor but did confirm that the arrests were part of what initially began in May 2017 as a probe into the suspicious deaths of 15 newborns and six non-fatal collapses at the neonatal unit.
Detective Inspector Paul Hughes, who is leading the probe, said Tuesday: “Since the start of our enquiries and, as the information gathering process has continued, the scope of the investigation has now widened.
“We are now currently investigating the deaths of 17 babies and 15 non-fatal collapses between the period of March 2015 and July 2016.”
“As a result of our ongoing enquiries, we have today arrested a healthcare professional in connection with the investigation. She was arrested earlier this morning on suspicion of murder in relation to eight of the babies and attempted murder in relation to six of the babies and is currently in custody,” DI Hughes confirmed.

So substantial were the RCPCH’s recommendations for improvement — 24, in total — the hospital stopped providing care for premature babies born before 32 weeks.
32 weeks is almost 8 months (7.4 to be exact) . . . does anyone find that frightening? Keeping socialized medicine solvent is now more important than saving lives.
But I guess we already knew that when they could spare a phalanx of policemen to ensure Little Alfie Evans was forced to die in a British Hospital rather than allow his parents take him to one in Italy who felt they could save his life.
The state routinely and coldly makes these life and death decisions. Who is surprised that they now have employees with the same God complex?
