~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Redstone Arsenal, Alabama

Redstone Arsenal (RSA) is a United States Army post adjacent to Huntsville in Madison County, Alabama, United States and is part of the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area.

The Arsenal is a garrison for a number of tenants including the United States Army Materiel Command, Army's Aviation and Missile Command, the Missile Defense Agency of the Department of Defense, and NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center.

Originally a chemical weapons manufacturing facility for World War II, the arsenal became the focal point of the Army’s rocket and space projects, including development of the first U.S. ballistic missiles and space launch vehicles in the 1950s.

Redstone Arsenal remains the center of testing, development, and doctrine for the Army's missile programs. Besides the U.S. Army Materiel Command and the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Life Cycle Management Command, Redstone houses the Tactical UAV Project Office, Redstone Test Center (RTC), the Missile Defense Agency, the Missile and Space Intelligence Center, and other operations.

After operating as a tenant on Redstone Arsenal for over half a century, the Ordnance Munitions and Maintenance School was moved to Fort Lee, Virginia.

Redstone Arsenal continues to host the Marshall Space Flight Center, NASA's field center for propulsion analysis and development, which developed the Saturn rocket family in the 1960s and propulsion systems for the Space Shuttle in the 1970s and '80s.

Sounds like we had similar weather today, though one cloud gave us a little rain. It cooled things down a bit but it made it REALLY steamy outside.

I found out a little while ago that SyFy’s “Face Off” had started a few weeks ago and I’ve been watching the previous episodes online. This way I’ll be caught up for the new one tomorrow night. Just love that show.

All three lessons were in a gorgeous seaside town nicknamed “DELUXE-bury” for its beautiful homes and historic buildings. The main road through the town is winging , tree-shaded, and scenic.

Blue is pleased.

Thanks again, galz, for a great road trip!
I'm ready for one right now!
To somewhere cool!
What are y'all's plans for the 4th?
BBQ? Fireworks? Just lounging?
Whatever...I hope it's excellent!
Me? As little as possible!
BBQ sounds good though.
As long as someone else cooks it!
Who needs the extra heat in the house! LOL!
Have a Terrific Tuesday!
((((hugs))))
