House Dems ask Ross to address 'glaring contradictions' in rationale for citizenship question

Fifty-six House Democrats on Monday signed a letter demanding Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross address what they call “glaring contradictions” in his rationale for adding a controversial citizenship question to the census.

Ross originally said he added the question, which will ask census-takers to list their citizenship, at the request of the Justice Department. But Ross filed a memo last month revealing the question’s inclusion was his idea, according to a Washington Post report.

The letter by House Democrats, led by Reps. Jimmy Gomez (D-Calif.), Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) and Judy Chu (D-Calif.), demands that Ross explain why he originally told Congress the Justice Department “initiated the request” during congressional testimony when his comments in the recent memo suggest that is untrue.

“We remain deeply concerned that a citizenship question will lead to an inaccurate count and have detrimental consequences for our country,” the letter states. “With so much at stake, we must be able to obtain truthful information from the Commerce Department about how this decision was made.”

The letter asks Ross to answer four questions about who proposed the citizenship question and when they did so.

Because the census determines federal funding and congressional redistricting, several advocacy organizations have stated undercounting noncitizens could result in discrimination of these populations.

A group of 21 immigrant rights advocacy organizations in May filed a lawsuit challenging the citizenship question to the 2020 census.

Democrat-controlled states and cities want to count illegals because the more bodies the more money.

Democrats also want illegals counted because Democrat states (like NY) are losing population and with population loss, they lose representation.

Stop counting illegals and Democrat states will shrivel and die.

This act shows the desperate situation the Democrat Party is really in. Remember folks it was just two years ago when Trump was still a presidential nominee that many in the media, in the Democrat Party, and a lot of NeverTrumper types who predicted the demise of the Republican Party. President Trump has caused all these people to self implode. Now it’s the Democrats and the media on the ropes. The NeverTrumpers like George Will and Bill Kristol have destroyed all their credibility as well.

We have a right to know how many non-citizens are in our country and where they are. The real question should be why was the citizen question removed?

Anyone know who has the authority to make the final decision on including the citizenship question? I wouldn’t be surprised if some federal judge gets involved and that it ends up at the supreme court.

The administration needs to get this settled soon, or the Dims and their political hacks in black robes will use every trick in the book to stop it at the last minute.

Just some simple math I did:

Each congressman/woman represents about 735,000 people.

There are at least 12 million illegal aliens in this country. It could be much more, but let’s use that for sake of argument.

So then, there are roughly 16 members of Congress who are there because of illegal aliens in the population. Probably 3 or 4 are from California. All would be from immigration heavy states such as New York and California.

"But if illegal immigrants were excluded from the census count, only four states would lose seats. New York, New Jersey, and Ohio would each lose one, and (surprise) California would lose two. Four states would gain seats, with one going to each of Montana, Arizona, and Texas. Florida would pick up two seats."

“Section 2. Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed.”

That is the answer.

Americans have a question about their census which is conducted with billions of tax dollars.

BACKSTORY When Obama came into office, he apparently had plans for the census that he had made well in advance of taking office. Yet, he did not share his plans with voters. Within days, without much fanfare, Obama's first official act was to takeover the census. The White House moved control of the Census from the Commerce Department to the Executive Branch and indicated that Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel would be in charge.

Not only is this the wrong political move to make, it may also be unconstitutional. It is the duty of the Congress to take the Census every 10 years and through a law passed in Congress, it gives the power to execute the Census to the Commerce Department. If Congress has established — by law — that Commerce has the responsibility, the White House can’t override that law. If it does so, the action is illegal and unconstitutional to boot.

QUESTION What changes were made, and what laws did Obama and Rham emanuel violate while the census was under their direct control?
