Not possible. This is the hottest it has ever been in the history of condescension. Global warming causes record cold temperatures. Trust the scientists. They have a huge grant to spend your tax dollars in justifying panic legislation. Would they lie to you?

At -78.5°C the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will deposit as carbon dioxide "snow".

Coldest temperatures ever??? Prove it. Now we have false science.

Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide. A block of dry ice has a surface temperature of -109.3 degrees Fahrenheit (-78.5 degrees C). Dry ice also has the very nice feature of sublimation — as it breaks down, it turns directly into carbon dioxide gas rather than a liquid.
Could this be ANOTHER way of dealing with extra carbon dioxide, that we didn’t think “Gaia” was cool enough to have on her polar sleeve? Just musing. Imagine an encrustation of dry ice near the pole(s).

Yes it would! We’ve been used to thinking about that on Mars, but not on old Terra.

What’s more, as this stuff accumulates, it will serve as an insulator and albedo enhancer.

This article is incorrect. A few weeks ago it was - 459F in our lab at work. And that helium still wasn’t frozen.

Sublimation like Mt. Killamanjaro snow vanishing? Yeah surely the spelling is wrong. 👹🍻🍿👍🏼

Stupid helium. Doesn’t know how to behave.

If the areas of frozen CO2 later rose in temperature above the sublimation point, yes. The reverse process of sublimation is called deposition.

One has to get very pushy with helium to get a solid (i.e. above 20 atmospheres).

Can't have been -144° F.
It was -129 F on July 23, 1983. The science is settled. /s
