No save Kumar for RBG seat. Trump gets to nominate the first American of Asian descent to the Supreme Court. Americans of Asian descent are now about 5% of the population. Most from India are solid conservative, Jindal and Haley are both of Indian descent and were elected governors in LA and SC, respectively.
This push by DeBlasio and the NYC school board to put quotas in the high performing schools is going to most heavily impact those of Asian descent in NYC with slots going to Blacks and those of Hispanic-non White descent.
Trump’s DOJ should take up this case against NYC public schools on behalf of the American-Asian community. Nominate Kupar to the Supreme Court and those voters may move towards the Republican party in mass. These American-Asian Communities already are a great small-business and entrepreneur minded community, which makes them implicitly conservative voters. If the Dems go full blown Venezuela and via la revolution like they did in this NYC Dem primary, that will only help.
In fact, a strategy might be to nominate Kupar now (make Identity politic dems crap in their pants) and Trump push that his nominee is the first American of Asian descent to be put for Supreme Court nomination. You can always nominate Barrett (the Notre Dame Professor and current I think 7th circuit judge) when RBG resigns, which hopefully will be soon.
Yes, thats my thinking. We have to be strategic. Right now the left is croaking about old white men, which is a given no matter who we nominate (if it was a woman, or a minority, wed hear something similar). But that might get traction if one of the hens on the SC were to retire, so we need to save it for then. Plus, frankly females scare me. I know weve had good solid conservative women, but they stand out like stars. I know weve had squishy turncoat conservative men too. But the numbers are for the men being more solid. We need a younger person to hold the seat for a long time. But a younger person also has less of a track record for holding firm.
I dont know, its a bit of a dice throw no matter what.
edit to my post Thapar
No Gowdy?
So, the whistle-blower had gender reassignment surgery- (no double entendre intended).
Where do we get these people.
Correct, I made the same argument before I read your post. We are thinking alike. Alternatively, you can nominate Barrett now, woman in replace of Man and then play Thapar for RBG’s seat.
Never trumper mike lee has ZERO chance. Zero
and that gender bender freak was the one being proactive about the case. Seriously.
No Brett Kavanaugh. He wont get past the prelims and once Trump knows he was involved with Hitlery and the Clinton’s ‘s DEAD POOL, he wont make it..
My pick would be Amy Coney Barrett. I don’t know any of these people except Mike Lee. He needs to stay in the Senate.
We need a conservative woman to offset the liberal women.
Would the left really vote against a woman?
Ted burned all his bridges on both sides of the political fence in the last 4 years.
I’m pretty sure there are zero Senators who would support him.
Me like!
I put my money on Amy Coney Barrett.
No - too much baggage and too easily ‘borked’.
Also less than reliable.
Yes.
For reference please see the Clarance Thomas hearings.
Catch him next time, for Ruths seat.
Cruz will win TX easily.
Same problem with Mike Lee.
” It would be great when the left goes crazy at the thought of a conservative replacing Ginsburg, and we can respond with outrage that they would oppose the first Asian-American/Indian-American justice.”
How do we know that when he’s confirmed he won’t turn to his Indian heritage and go full socialist? U.C. Berkeley School of Law.
Joan Larsen, 48
Justice, Michigan Supreme Court
Larsen is the youngest of any of the reported Trump shortlisters, offering conservatives the possibility of installing a justice who could serve for three decades. Larsen clerked for Scalia.
It would help him in this pivotal state to appoint her.
Give us Amy, please.
