It’s likely more a matter of admitting that he’d been being buggered for years by the MS-13 gang member(s) who killed him. There’s a peculiar aspect to sexuality in certain Hispanic and Mediterranean cultures, wherein it’s believed that it’s OK so long as you’re not the receptive one, being intentionally circumspect. Combine that with widespread child sexual abuse and I’d imagine this is not exactly uncommon. We just don’t hear about it.

A normal 10-year-old is blissfully unaware of what human sexuality means. Naturally, children develop friendships with those they can relate to, which often means friends of the same sex. Also, often children this age still think in terms of members of the opposite sex having “cooties”.
It is reckless and extremely dangerous to normalize the idea of young children “coming out”, especially in perverted California where they are attempting to criminalize helping people get rid of unwanted same-sex sexual attraction. They also recently decriminalized underage prostitution.
