And Eric Cantor was the second ranking person in the House Republican leadership. Crowley was the fourth ranking member. Both were considered to be the next Speaker for their party. Both underestimated their primaries and both were defeated by candidates who were considered to have no chance of winning and both of whom were farther to the left/right than the sitting congressman.

Tell me again how the comparison isn't even close.

I think that Bernie was accidentally in the right place to pick up the progressive band of the party not wanting the control of the corrupt Hillary. They were even pissed at him when he caved, wanting to still find the vehicle that would let them be heard. How else can we explain the shift of the JackPine crowd to Jill Stein?

That election was more about removing the "old white male" than electing a self avowed socialist. That she's with crazy bernie was just icing on the cake for them.
