Britains prison population is at its lowest in eight years thanks to new government rules which have boosted early releases by more than 50 percent in the last six months. Ministry of Justice figures show that the number of inmates put on home detention curfew (HDC) has risen to 3,304 from 2,196 in January when ministers told prison guards to increase their use in order to free up space in overcrowded jails.
This increase was reported as the primary factor in the prison population falling more than 1,500 in six months to 82,694, which is the lowest figure since January 2010.
According to The Times, the Conservative government ordered release on HDC be made the norm for offenders serving sentences of three months to four years after it was found to in 2016 that only 21 percent of people eligible for the scheme were tagged and set free.

Early release for offenders serving sentences of three months to four years.
Now, in that prisoners only serve half sentences, is that 6 months to eight years???
Will Tommy Robinson get this privilege ??
Free Tommy Robinson, you fascists.
Funny they are doing this right here at home, just ask deblasio and any of the rat states. The universities are puking out social justice warriors of the white extraction to save black criminals jailed because of their color
On this side of the pond, US cops aren’t supposed to arrest blacks for drugs or misdemeanors.
IOTW, make #@$@ up so you can put more whites behind bars.
Genius!!
Living with the criminals and only they have guns.
What could go wrong?
Prison pop down, crime rate up and, of course, the BBC will not report the latter.
There was a story about this just the other day from the People’s Republic of Austin, TX. They’re nuts. The irony is that minority communities will be the ones that suffer the most when criminals are not punished or are released early.
