We haven’t even had 65% eligible voter turnout for presidential elections since 1908. The eligible voters who choose not participate has outnumbered any political party for 100+ years, and most of the time it was WAY less than 65% turnout. This isn’t a sign the country in general cares about anything that much, at least in my opinion.

You are correct about the apathy of the electorate and I might add it has been caused by the belief that it does not matter enough to vote. No one is trusted to change things.
