Hardline immigration bill fails in the House

The House on Thursday rejected a hardline immigration bill — introduced by Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) — after leadership postponed a second vote on a compromise measure written with centrists.

The 193-231 vote came a day after President Trump signed an executive order ending the controversial practice of separating children from parents who cross the border illegally.

No Democrats voted in favor of Goodlatte's bill.

House leadership had expressed pessimism on the chances for either Goodlatte’s legislation or a second compromise bill written with centrists, both of which come as the growing crisis at the border dominated headlines.

The hardline measure faced sharp pushback from both Democrats and moderates, who took issue with a number of provisions including its cuts to legal immigration.

Both bills have the support of the administration, whose "zero tolerance" policy toward undocumented immigration has come under bipartisan fire over the separation of migrant families.

The vote effectively killed a discharge petition — introduced by Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-Fla.) in April — that would have circumvented leadership and forced votes on four separate immigration proposals. The bill with the most votes over 218 would have then been sent to the upper chamber.

The discharge petition, backed by moderates Republicans and many Democrats, nearly had its required number of backers, forcing leadership's hand in bringing forth the Thursday votes.

Those that elected Trump are still here, we need to let them know we are still here. Trump made no secret that he planned to enforce immigration laws and secure the border. He was elected, so the support is there- we just need our voices heard loud and clear.

The reason the Goodlatte 1 failed was the freedom sucks read the bill and confronted pail rino on the floor over absence of truth on the funding. They were lied to by rino. Had they stayed in , it would have passed. Then Goodlatte 2 didn’t have the wall money and it was going to be defeated again. The Republicrats met in caucus and were told that if they put the wall in it might pass but it took a huge rewrite so they pushed the vote off until Monday!! This is exactly the lies and deception that happened in the omnibus bill. Zero dollars for a wall, just border repair for a lousy 1,6 billion for repairs only..“ start on the wall”is disingenuous at best. Not a foot of new wall has been built. Only repair and use of concrete was forbidden. Any time you see “ border security” that is a euphemism for “ you wall people, go to hell” by the rino/ GOPE. The bill is hidden from the public!! Why?? Why can’t we see it?

Did you catch that?
HARDLINERS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

“Hardliners,” for wanting to secure our own country, the same way virtually every other nation in the world does?

This will now be the major November election issue.
The progressive GOP RINOs are about to get a kick in the ass by the electorate.

Open borders are the death of a nation. It isn’t cheap labor driving the issue for the left, it is DEATH OF AMERICA.

Do you have a list of those “Republican” quislings?

If we can’t “primary” them out this year, let’s do it in 2020!

“entire GOPE and Trump if he signs a bill that grants citizenship to a single illegal which does not (1) fully fund the wall today, (2) end chain migration, (3) end the visa lottery, (4) end catch and release (5) does not cut off sanctuary city funds (6) does not require universal e-verify!”

The hidden agenda from the left is, of course, open borders, which is very clearly, the Death knell for America. Mark my words, this is the goal, the death of a great nation.

...What didn’t they like that was so bad? 25 meagre billion for the wall...

Considering that a thousand billion is a trillion, this is just chump change for the government.

My crystal ball has the Trump Wall-funding bill failing too.””’

IF that happens, I sincerely suggest to Trump that he start a “GO FUND ME” account to build the wall.

I predict it will be very successful.

Then, follow that up with a call for volunteers to BUILD the wall. Provide spaces for them to park RV’s & travel trailers. Bring in military mess hall tents. Feed everyone for free-—but they are VOLUNTEERS. Preferably with surveying & construction experience. Let the wives & girlfriends help with feeding them. Bring in ‘shower trailers’ & ‘laundry trailers’.

Government uses the go fund me money to pay for materials & for food, etc., at camps.

I don’t think it would take 18 months to build the whole 1960 miles of wall.

Flashback: What Obama (2005) and Schumer (2009) Said About Illegal Immigrants

The hypocrisy of the Democrat party. By Jerry McTexas/Editor-in-Chief - September 10, 2017

Liberals can say what they want about Trump, but for the most part, he has the same views today as he had decades ago, which is far more than we can say about the leaders of their party.

For example, back in 2005, then Senator Barack Obama had much different opinion about illegals, stating, “We are a generous and welcoming people here in the United States, but those who enter the country illegally and those who employ them disrespect the rule of law and they are showing disregard for those who are following the law.”

He further stated, “We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently, and lawfully to become immigrants in this country.”

I can hear liberals now, saying there is no way their fearless leader every said something like that! After all, he is the one that put DACA on the books. Only problem is, there is video proof he actually said it…

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t recall anyone ever calling Obama a racist after he made that statement.

And Chuck Schumer is no better. During a conference in 2009, Schumer was adamantly against illegal immigrants.

At the 6th Annual Immigration Law and Policy Conference, he stated, “People who enter the United States without our permission are illegal aliens and illegal aliens should not be treated the same as people who entered the U.S. legally.”

He further stated, “When we use phrases like undocumented workers, we convey a message to the American people that their government is not serious about combatting illegal immigration, which the American people overwhelmingly oppose.”

Once again, we have a Democrat that has absolutely shredded Trump over his immigration policies, yet he once had that very same hardline stance.

They may (hopefully) lose their current position(s), but the taxpayers will forever be on the hook

it’s pointless to try for legislation until after Ryan, McConnell and a majority of RINO’s are voted out of office.
Too risky to pass anything thing cuz RINO’s plus dems might be able to override a veto......maybe after 2022 election conservatives can get control. I n the meantime maybe trump could just use the “De Fence Budget” to have army corps of engineers build the wall. Not sure he could get that implemented but who knows?

It's a "hardliner" position to support the rule of law, want secure borders and lawful immigration? Draining the swamp was never going to be easy...especially when it's essentially been a one man show.

The silver lining in this vote is: "The vote effectively killed a discharge petition"

Hardline immigration bill fails in the House

Partner, we should run on the complete construction of the Southern Border Wall and with more Border Patrol agents at the southern border and at entry points then we can talk Illegal Immigration for the 2018 elections. I doubt we will see any Rats getting elected.

"Illegal Immigration is a major issue and the Republican party will wipe out the Rat party if they run on this issue in the 2018 elections."

We are willing to make this a major campaign issue and President Trump will win on this issue.

We have such incompetent leaders in the Republicans party right now.

This is no "Hardline Issue"!!!

You have no argument. You have never had anything resembling an argument. All you have - in every post you make - is hysterical ranting, where it is obvious that you have not a clue. 99 percent of the time, your insinuations prove to be total bullsh*t. So, as I said before - go climb a tree.
