As I asked in the earlier discussion thread, what is the effective date? I suspect most states have laws that apply. Does this mean my company's transactions today are subject to tax withholding for my customer's states? What about yesterdays? The law that the supreme court endorsed in South Dakota, and indirectly others around the US are already on the books. Does this mean I am responsible for retroactive collection and reporting of taxes?

Nowhere in the ruling do I see an effective date, so does each state, county, and city set it's own? And what's to stop them from saying anything within the applicable statute of limitations?

For a sale yesterday or last year, do I need to go back and ask for taxes? If someone contacted you, would you pay?

effective date

You made me lol.

Every state and locality will start demanding their taxes as soon as they can scramble to get a quorum together. I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't some all night sessions tonight!

You cannot keep pigs away from the trough.
