Are you in Spain?

If so, what do the Spaniards think about their brand new socialist PM welcoming the invaders there?

Odd that Spain hasn’t incurred the level of invasion from Africa that Italy has, even though they’re merely a spitting distance away from Africa.

The main problem is Ceuta which is a Spanish possession in North Africa. Migrants crash over the border and are effectively in Spain. The current government is not going to last.

If Spain’s socialist government gave off the faintest whiff of being anti-illegal immigration and pro-border protection, they’d automatically become “far right” in the leftist lackey media lexicon.

Yes, I retired here in 2016. The Socialist government is new so their impact hasn't had time to sink in. They are making a very bad first impression with all of their moves towards welcoming illegals that they can't afford.

Odd that Spain hasn’t incurred the level of invasion from Africa that Italy has, even though they’re merely a spitting distance away from Africa.

Spain has no social safety net for foreigners. It barely has one for the native born. Migrants do land here on a fairly regular basis but, until now, most headed right for the French border and a free lunch. Even the ones that were allowed to stay weren't allowed to work so the most common jobs you see Africans doing is selling counterfeit merchandise. At one time they did have health care for illegals but the previous government cut that out as a cost saving measure. In that respect America could learn a lot from Spain. They don't try to stop illegal immigration but they make it (or made it until the Socialists took over) so inhospitable that migrants avoided coming here.

I predict that it won't take very long for the people to get sick of this new government. They have enough problems of their own without importing even more. What could happen is that the EU ends up subsidizing Spain to become the official dumping ground for migrants now that Italy has thrown in the towel. They could reap some short term benefits but all they have to do is look at any other European country that has put out the welcome mat to see that it's a long term disaster. I hope they have enough sense to see that Brussels is playing them for fools if they do that.
