There are rumors that Caster is a hermaphrodite (female genitalia plus descended testes). The new PC term for that is “intersex”. If so, that might explain Caster’s hyperandrogenism.
That's what I recall from when the controversy first arose several years ago. So this is a question for sports governing boards, but also something the individual was born with and usually requires some medical treatment.
