Canada has passed a landmark law that legalises the recreational use of marijuana nationwide. The Cannabis Act passed its final hurdle on Tuesday in a 52-29 vote in the Senate. The bill controls and regulates how the drug can be grown, distributed, and sold. Canadians will be able to buy and consume the drug legally as early as this September. The country is the first in the G7 to legalise the drug's recreational use.

The writing is in the wall, marijuana will be legal in the US a the federal level soon unless we want to see Canadians backpacking south over the boarder with bales of marijuana.

Remind me not to rent a car in Canada; I’d want to avoid all the stoners behind the wheel.

Drunks blow through stop signs. Stoners stop early and wait for the sign to turn green.

Big pharma has too much of a stranglehold on key politicians to change the laws here. There is too much money to be made getting the controlled ‘legal’ addictive ones to market.

I am for legal medical use. It has great painkilling properties and for folks that cbd oil doesnt work for, thc often works to help them.

Castro’s boy has done it again.

Next thing will be Raul legalizing it in Cuba.

Then the Norks. Then Venezuela... It’s a slippery slope.

“Remind me not to rent a car in Canada; I’d want to avoid all the stoners behind the wheel”

Countless people are addicted to and drive on Rx and OTC drugs that are far more impairing than cannabis. For which there is no smell or roadtest and 100% legal in all 50 states. Countless people drive when sleepy or tired and are more impaired than drunks. No legislation against that.

Countless people chat on their “hands free” device in traffic for hours and stare at huge car screens. No legislation there.

A few more people using cannabis is barely a drop in the ocean of possible driver impairment. Responsibility should be up to drivers instead of outlawing every possible distraction

“It is likely that by mid-September, Canadians will be able to buy cannabis and cannabis oil grown by licensed producers at various retail locations.

...Adults will be able to possess up to 30 grams (1 ounce) of dried cannabis in public.

Edibles, or cannabis-infused foods, will not be immediately available for purchase but will be within a year of the bill coming into force.”

I am guessing that supply will go up, and price will go down, after a few crop cycles.

Maybe the Government will rig the production through licensing, to keep prices high.

You don’t have to like marijuana or wish for stoned drivers in order to know that it’s hypocrisy for alcohol to be legal with cannabis not. Freedom to ingest mood or mind altering substances for adults is what it is. Freedom. Limits on affecting others should be in place.

Actually, for chronic pain, like most herbs, you need to regularly take it, and CBD oil works best in a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio with thc. It won’t get you intoxicated. Sad to think I’d test + for cannabis when I am never high at all.

Cdb and other non-thc oils dont work for everyone. Some have tried them and had no effect, but they do report success with their pain with thc. I am not saying a ratio like, you mention doesnt work, but i am saying some people dont have a response unless they get the thc oil.

Not everyone responds or gets the same effect from every cannabid oil, theres a number of them. You have to test them and see which ones work for whatever problems and pains you specifically have.

Definitely. And herbal remedies don’t work like Advil, in 30 mins the pain is gone. They take months of regular ingestion to start a cumulative and ongoing relief. A lot of people don’t get that.

And yes. You have to play with doses of herbs, and cannabis you can play with the cbd/ thc ratio. For someone suffering, I’d go right away to 2:1 CBD:thc as the first experimental ratio. Then you can lower the thc after a month and see what you can get away with.

And for a beginner they may wish to only take at bedtime because it can make you sleepy. And for someone with pain, sleep will be quickly improved!
