Severe depression that leads to suicide is a health problem and a social problem. The social part of the problem is in large part caused by the socialist/liberal push to replace traditional nuclear families with big government as the mama and the idea no one needs to be responsible for themselves or their family members. Being nonjudgmental, living for the moment, instead of preparing for the future and just looking out for number one has weakened the family support system that used to help depressed people through a bad spell.
