What specific penalties or consequences will result from today's hearings? Congress has the power of the purse but I can guarantee you that not one dime will be withheld from any of these agency's budgets in the future. Moreover, there will be no real accountability for mismangement, lying or bias.
The hearings are the usual charade designed to mollify the public and lend the appearance of doing something. Just more political theater instead of meaningful and tangible consequences. Congress puts on show trials for political reasons. That's all they do.
