Orphaned by deportation: the crisis of American children left behind (2014 article)
The Guardian ^ | 15 Oct 2014 | Lauren Gambino

Ten-year-old Andrés Jiménez was looking forward to the end of summer. Not because he was particularly eager to return to school, but because the end of summer was meant to be the president’s deadline for taking action on immigration.

But Obama’s deadline came and went, and with it Andrés’s hopes of reuniting his family after his father was wrenched from his life three years ago.

Andrés was seven when his father, after whom he is named, was stopped for driving with an expired licence plate, an event that would unravel the life his parents had worked so hard to build.

At a rally for immigration reform in Washington DC last month, the young Andrés begged President Barack Obama to take executive action on immigration policy and help reunite families like his own who are torn apart by deportations.

“President Obama, I want to have a family like yours,” Andrés said slowly in Spanish. And then, in a heart-rending moment captured on national television, the young boy breaks down in tears as he talks about his father’s deportation.

Keep ‘em coming.

The Rats are going to regret this before it’s all over.

Trump needs to call out the faux outrage. Where were these people before January, 2017?

This is energizing the Trump base.

This IS the issue that propelled him into the WH.

Why was he not deported with his father? All of this miset is directly attributable to the liberals and their open borders policy.
Open borders in insanity!

The real child abuse going on with this is the smuggling of a minor child across an international border. Those that do this should also face severe child abuse charges along with being illegally the country. The more children, the harsher the penalty. The more times they do it, the harsher the penalty until they’re facing life in prison. The best solution is the wall. Keep em all on the Mexican side and completely out of the country. Those here should probably be shipped out of the country away from the MSM, maybe GITMO, for proper processing for their return home.

This kid is not American. If his parents are not American than neither is he. Being born here does not mean he is subject to the jurisdiction the USA. Birthright citizenship is a gross misinterpretation of the law.

Gee, who would think that parents would actually take their children with them?!?!

Maybe that's a new thing, or a Mexican thing...

Bruce Lee was born in the USA while his parents were on tour in a Chinese Opera company. He was born a US Citizen, but his parents actually took him back to Hong Kong and raised him. He came to the USA when he was in his late teens, a US citizen.

Maybe that's a Chinese thing...

"...age 10 and 3 years in the system and he can’t construct a basic sentence in English."

It's even worst than that. His father was deported 3 years ago. He and his family have been here longer. At 10 he should be in the 5th grade and still not able to speak English.

The article says his father worked in construction and "at the time, they had four American children – three girls and a boy – with one more on the way." That guarantees the family was getting every welfare benefit from WIC & Medicaid for the birth of the children to Food-Stamps & free school breakfast and lunch and everything in between. And the father was either working off-the-books and paying no taxes or if on the books was maxing out on Earned Income and Child Tax Credits.

Now that the father's gone they stayed here continue to be supported by us taxpayers.

If they miss their deported father/husband so much, give up the welfare bucks and hop on a plane to where they can be with him and no-speakie-English without being ridiculed by real Americans.
