This is exactly the kind of candidate the GOP has been running in these U.S. Senate races in New Jersey for years — which explains why NJ hasn’t had a Republican Senator for as long as I can remember.

Franks and Forrester could have won in 2000 and 2002 respectively, but Corzine and Lautenberg’s urban base of black and Latino voters turned out heavily in Newark, Irvington, Perth Amboy, New Brunswick, Camden and Lawnside overwhelmingly.
