Must wait until formally convicted before a pardon can be granted. None of the bigwigs in campaign have been convicted yet. All charges have nothing to do with Trump campaign.

I can not work on Trump campaign 2020, because Mueller will still be investigating, and I may have rounded off interest in savings account incorrectly.

“Must wait until formally convicted before a pardon can be granted.”

Not true.

Carter preemptively pardoned draft dodgers in Canada and Ford pardoned Nixon before any charges were brought.

Nope. You can pardon in advance.

Normally, this is true. But the poor bastid IS IN JAIL RIGHT NOW.

Was he “formally convicted”? Hell, he didn’t even get a freaking trial.

The Politburo has spoken. Let it be so.

Ford pardoned Nixon for any crimes he might have committed while President.

No, that is not correct.

Trump can pardon anyone for any federal crimes, except treason, they ever committed whether they were convicted of them or not, up to, and including, the date of the pardon. Nixon got that from Ford.

The president cannot pardon anyone for future federal crimes they may commit.
