Lots of truth there. In my neck of the woods, the do-not-discipline approach is also driven by bonus money. Principals get bonuses for reaching certain goals, one of which is reducing suspensions.
So the principals simply stop suspending disruptive students. Result: More hallway fights. More kids yelling and running around in the classroom. But the principals get to collect their bonuses, and pad their resumes. So it’s all good.
The decent students can’t learn as much with all this disruption going on. So test scores are down. Who gets all the blame for that? The teachers, of course.
