"Does WikiLeaks need authorization?" Wikileaks has one principal they stand on. Total secrecy on who gives them the info. They protect the source. Their entire platfrom is setup to do just that. So yes they would need official permission to reveal how they got the info.

If the actual source told wikileaks that its ok then that’s one thing. That’s not the case here though.
