Trump’s Tight Labor Market Secures $18 Wages for Chick-fil-A Workers

President Trump’s tightened labor market, largely due to increased interior immigration enforcement, is securing higher wages for California Chick-fil-A workers. A Washington Post report reveals that a Chick-fil-A in Sacramento is looking to retain its workers in the tightened labor market by increasing wages from the current rate of about $11 an hour to up to $18 an hour.

Washington Post reports:

Eric Mason, owner of the Chick-fil-A location in Sacramento, told a reporter for the local ABC news affiliate KXTV that he would be raising his workers’ pay from $12 to $13 an hour to $17 to $18 an hour starting June 4, referring to the increase as a “living wage.” In California, the minimum wage is $11 for employers with 26 or more workers and will go up $1 a year until 2022. [Emphasis added]

“As the owner, I’m looking at it big-picture and long-term,” Mason said in an interview with a local news station. “What that does for the business is provide consistency, someone that has relationships with our guests, and it’s going to be building a long-term culture.”

Chick-fil-A has really good employees. Every time I eat there or go through the drive through, I see professional grade courtesy and efficiency They earned that raise by working hard being truly customer oriented. Glad to see their hard work rewarded..

And no law was needed for CFA to do this.

Those who have been pushing for higher minimum wages up to $15 an hour, should be happy to hear this.

Will they publicly acknowledge this, or be quiet so as not to hint at approval of Trump’s policies which led to this happening?

Those who have been pushing for higher minimum wages up to $15 an hour, should be happy to hear this.

The $15/hr wage push a couple of years ago was a sham. The California law that was being pushed would exempt union contracts from the minimum wage.

It was a ploy to unionize minimum wage workers by bribing employers. "let your employees unionize, or else you must pay them $15/hr."

Here is one story from 2015: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/05/29/unions-seek-exemption-from-la-minimum-wage-law-helped-pass.html

So the “15 dollar wage for fast food workers” activists....are now asking for a pay cut for them, technically.

That’s a big bump. $4.00 x 40= $160 x 4 weeks= 640 a month! About $8000 per year!

The job market this summer after a year plus of Trump economics for young people is terrific, from the Mid and West to California.

Our teen age grand kids, great nieces/nephews are getting job offers from individuals, small companies, medium companies and big companies. If they didn’t get above minimum wages to start with, they got good bumps above minimum wage after the first couple of weeks or will with raises this month.

On the other end, their grandparents, my wife and I, who are creeping up on age 80 are getting offers.

It reminds us of how the job markets improved with Ike as president in 1952/1960. My cousins, siblings, and I had job offers to pick and choose from. Part of that was do to economic growth and lack of guys in the job market due to the Korean war.

$18/hour is more than most flight instructors make after college, two or more years of flight training, $90,000 in flight training, a commercial pilot’s license with instrument rating, and hot-bunking in a trailer.

Government should NEVER set any kind of minimum wage but should work toward a healthy and vibrant economy that makes that decision. Allowing open borders and refusing to enforce our immigration laws floods the market with workers which depresses wages. It is the simple law of Supply and Demand. Democrats, so desperate for voters, allowed illegals into the country, gave them “compassionate” compensation while they are here in exchange for the illegal voting.

In-and-Out Burgers’ employees have always struck me the same way. They hustle, are pleasant, place looks clean, employees look clean and well groomed.

The Left hated us before it hated Trump. Leftists hate Trump because he speaks for We the People.

That’s what happens when you tighten the labor market by having less immigrants (illegal and HB1), less offshore manufacturing at low China wages, and more protectionism of our jobs via tariffs, etc. Result: Wages go up and big corporation profits go down.

Trump is just doing what he won on and like magic it is working.

Global free trade is not conservatism or even good economics—it is globalism that will destroy any country. The economics books and economic theories are dead wrong that foreign free trade is “good” for a country (It is only good for corporations at the expense of Americans). Countries have always protected their economies with national protectionism.

All this “foreign free trade” BS has only happened in the last 30 years or so and it has been a disaster. We gave away half of our economy, built China into an economic powerhouse with our jobs, and ruined Americans.
