The Arizona republic did not accidentally print a lie. They used an old trick of yellow journalism which is to print the lie, and then days later bury a tiny "correction" in the back pages. The New York Times and Washington Post are very well versed in this con game; they are experts at it and use it like clockwork against President Trump and other targets of their jihad on truth.
This slimy technique works because while a multitude see the lie and remember it, only a very few will see the retraction. Once the horse leaves the barn, it is all over.
One recent example comes to mind when the Washington Post printed that only 1000 people attended President's Nashville rally. In reality it was at least 5 times that number (a 500% error!) with the fire marshal estimating at least 5000, and Breitbart estimating 8000.
Honest mainstream journalism is dead.
