In this case, I hope it will lead to more scrutiny of the Skripal “attempted assassination”. That’s another amazing story of people coming back from the brink of the grave. Lots of allegations and no proven facts.
Did you read the article? The assassination plot was real, but the would be contract killer went to the police instead and the police set up a sting operation. The false info about the success of killing was out there for less than a day, during which the police gathered the final evidence (payment for what the organizer though was a successful hit and perhaps something more), made the arrests and the truth was revealed.
I will believe this evidence when I see it. At present, there is no evidence of any Russian involvement.
There is some evidence that might not of course point to Russia. That evidence is the one hiring the contract killer paying his fee on tape. That is no more and no less of evidence of Russian involvement until further evidence is released, but already when the news was that the guy is killed it was no further evidence.
I have been reading opinions on twitter. I have noticed something and that is - journalists are mad that they had to write an obituary, but there are quite a few law enforcement officers telling the journos to shut t-f up as in their experience these kinds of sting operations are the only way to catch those hiring contract killers and all things equal I trust the law enforcement officers.
I guess we’ll see, but I am not judging the sting operation too harshly. The same thing (announcing fake death in sting operation for contract killing) has been done in America and it has been done in Russia and the people being outraged about it now being done in Ukraine are mostly feigning it. It is what the police is supposed to do!
