Illegal pot grows spread deadly pesticides, other hazards, despite change in law
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | May 29, 2018 | Peter Fimrite

The legalization of cannabis in California has done almost nothing to halt illegal marijuana growing by Mexican drug cartels, which are laying bare large swaths of national forest in California, poisoning wildlife, and siphoning precious water out of creeks and rivers, U.S. Attorney McGregor Scott said Tuesday.

Illegals are destroying California cities, California schools, California public support systems and now they are destroying the California outdoors. How's that sanctuary state working for you?

It’s insensitive to refer to these pot grows as illegal. Pot is legal in California. How can something that’s legal be called illegal? A less prejudiced term for these grows would be undocumented.

They pay off the people who should be stopping them from wrecking the forests. Lots of money in pot. And it is illegal if you grow it in national forests or on other people’s land.

Well, its their land according to the left, so let them do what they want.

I’m sorry to see the loss of the beautiful California flora and fauna. (sincerely).

But one has to break eggs, right? If you want an illegal immigrant omelet and provide landscapers for the rich?

All is well. /s

California’s regime loves illegals and marijuana, so why complain about this?

This is bad even for cannabis enthusiasts. One push for legalization was to put these guys out of biz and keep them from threatening people to let them use state parks and land to grow pot. They do use a ton of dangerous pesticides and herbicides. It is neurotoxic to EAT crops made with unlimited dumps of pesticide. Imagine JUST HOW MUCH MORE DAMAGING it is to the brains of people who smoke them?

Which means the poorest kids will have more incidents of brain problems as they age.

Of course, some cartels have stopped trying to grow weed in CA. They are doing a great biz bringing in heroin now.

I saw a show on this the other day. Many of the growers are indentured set ate, for all intents and purposes. They get dropped off with a bag of seeds and resupied with food every month, or so. Cops don’t lean on them too hard when they’re caught because their families are in danger if they talk. Most of them know little about who is up the food chain, anyway.

If you smoke pot you will get brain damage even without the pesticides. Plus lung cancer and a lot of other things.

Jeez, what is wrong with people these days? Can’t they do anything for themselves anymore?

Pot is no harder to grow than tomatoes, and it doesn’t have to be smothered in pesticides in a controlled closet/grow tent. A few plants should last a semi-normal person years.

The nasty growing techniques with highly toxic pesticides are only needed for serious large crop enterprises who can’t afford a crop problem.

Undocumented cannabis from undocumented “farmers”. What could possibly go wrong?

One push for legalization was to put these guys out of biz

I never for an instant believed that addicts (pushing for legalizing dope) believed that it would curtail illegal grows.

All along, it was nothing but a bunch of scumbag dopeheads who wanted to take drugs with the state's blessing. They got it, and all that it entails. Besides, dopeheads don't do nature. They just stay stoned.

The footage I saw showed cleared ground in the forest. I don’t know what these guys did for entertainment while they were out there, but they could have picked pests off by hand just to alleviate the boredom. But, it was clearly a money crop. No telling where it would have ended up.
