Rep. Diane Black (R-Tenn.) said that pornography is partially to blame for gun violence in schools.
The GOP lawmaker made the comment during a listening session with local pastors last week while discussing several factors that she said contribute to increased gun violence.
Why do we see kids being so violent? she asked, according to a recording of her comments obtained by HuffPost. What makes them do that?
Black, who is running for Tennessee governor, blamed the increase in school shootings on deterioration of the family, violent movies and pornography, though she did not specify what effect pornography had.
Its available on the shelf when you walk in the grocery store, she said of pornography. Yeah, you have to reach up to get it, but theres pornography there.
All of this is available without parental guidance, she added. I think that is a big part of the root cause.
She also said that mental illness needs to be addressed to prevent gun violence, pointing to what she called signs of school shooting suspects' anti-social behavior.
Etc...

That's how they play the game.
Forget she also mentioned mental illness as a cause of school violence.
Incessant mocking by liberals to follow.
And be SURE not to mention boys raised by single/working mommies, no dads, no religion, and public education.
And gun laws are to blame for sexting...morons.
First person shooters have a lot to do with it.
I bet if you looked at each school shooter, you’d find that most of them were hard core gamers.
I just wish these people would get the real reasons instead of blaming video games, comic books, rock n roll, and nudie mags.
Somehow I missed all the school shootings back in the 80s when all of the same stuff was around.
But hey, just keep up with demonizing every male outlet, while pumping them up with drugs. I’m sure good things will happen soon.
This is dumb. How many students look at porn who do not commit school shootings? Come on. I looked at porn when I was a boy, I never did anything like this. The reality is a teenager is more likely to die in a car accident than a school shooting. When you start talking about things like porn or video games or violence in tv/movies, you look at availability, consumption, then the coloration to valiant crimes.
Secure schools and do a better job of identifying students who have a mental illness/at risk. Making disturbing posts online? Obsessed with a girl? Withdrawn? Bullied? On and on. There’s usually indicators.
Back in the day, you didn’t heard of school shootings. Thankfully, teen boys weren’t interested in porn then.
They also used guns.
Dont forget to blame guns....because you know, digital games and firearms totally made them do it?
It’s the whole moral climate and the state of the family.
Throw in lack of proper socialization because of overuse of devices and video games.
Throw in poor diet and junk food.
It’s a mess. It isn’t the guns.
I blame govt, media, Hollywood and our feckless seeker churches.
You all didn’t even read the excerpt, much less link, did you?
(BTW, you’ll find little sympathy here for habitual sexual obsession - yes, that’s what looking at porn frequently is. Never mind those who keep looking and getting a real “score”. It’s part of the total moral break-down of society.)
Very well said.
This phenomenon of school shootings is closely linked to a breakdown of traditional values, family units, and religious institutions.
After that they were suspended or expelled.
If only suspended then the next step was expulsion.
Where we are today is a result of that policy changing in the sixties, and this was predicted to be the result of leniency towards violent students at the time.
Anti-bullying policies which don't remove violent students early on are only liability control.
Most of the school shooters either have a history of violence that was allowed to build up, or (as in Columbine) are kids the schools outright refused to protect from violence until they snap.
I’m guessing the pornography mentioned by her is the brown paper wrapped Playboys at Albertsons?
Someone should show her the internets and explain rule 34.
“BTW, youll find little sympathy here for habitual sexual obsession - yes, thats what looking at porn frequently is. Never mind those who keep looking and getting a real score. Its part of the total moral break-down of society”
You will find more sympathy for minding your own business. Try it, or stop whining about the left trying to tell you what you can and cannot do.
Well, there is Cosmo...

With the internet and youtube, disgruntled kids can study Dylan and Klebold and see if they can 'beat the top score'.
Young kids used to bring guns for show and tell and didn't shoot anyone.
A multitude of factors have changed.
We can all pick our own reason and mine is an overload of mass-media (TV, movies, video games, internet).
For example (I wish I could track this down) in the early to mid 90's there was a book or research paper that documented the changes in a small town in rural Canada before and after they got 24 hour cable.
Before cable, the town was quiet and bucolic.
After the young kids in the town saw the news of gangs in LA and Chicago, they started emulating their behavior.
Young kids are now overwhelmed by any and every form of media and if parents aren't their to guide them, mass media wins.
(I remember either Dylan Klebold or Eric Harris had little to no interaction with his parents. They left money on a table so he could basically feed himself.
I believe we're seeing the same thing with these shooters. I'm sure many parents believe they're doing a great job but they may be fooling themselves.
If you're not aware your child is stock piling weapons in his room, how on earth could you know what is going on in his life and in his mind?
On a deep psychological level, I suspect these shootings are an attack on mom and dad for abandoning them.)
When compared to all the teenage murders in all the leftist cities, school shootings are trivial.
