Email Address SUBMIT The Senate plans to start working toward new drug price legislation this summer to help President Trump tackle high prices, even though previous bipartisan measures have struggled to get off the ground.
Trumps blueprint issued a few weeks ago includes several proposal, and senators are planning their own legislation to complement the blueprint. The effort will start next month, when the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee hosts Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar on June 12 to discuss the blueprint.

A real good first step would be to not allow advertising of pharmaceuticals.
Shhhhhh....don't tell any liberals. Their heads will explode.
A real good first step would be to not allow advertising of pharmaceuticals.
A factor in high pharmaceutical costs is that patients demand that they get pharmaceuticals that they see advertised on TV, instead of considering lower cost alternatives.
Virtually billions are spent on TV, newspapers, magazines to advertise their junk. The simple notifying of doctors and hospitals of the different crap the pharmacueticals peddle would be saved for towards the end pricing.
Hope Trump’s remedy involves competition rather than attacking the patent system by price controls or importation from countries that impose price controls.
Competition, competition, competition is the key to reducing ALL of the high medical expenses. Get rid of government control and it will change dramatically and very quickly.

“Frankly, I don’t give a damn.”
Medicare, Tricare, Medicaid are ALL PRICE SET and LOCKED.
Also the sales/agents for the Pharmaceutical companies Make huge salaries/bonuses by getting Dr.s to write prescriptions for ‘their’ company. Which is why the agents wine and dine the Dr. and his staff with fancy meals and gifts. I knew personally one agent, who was one of the top salesman for Aventa, that actually paid hundreds in cash for Dr.s to write for the company. It's a racket that all get theirs off the top long before the patient requests, if they request at all..most don't.
People see the commercials which always say, “Ask your doctor if this crap is right for you” and then start pestering their doctors to prescribe something that isn’t really intended for their ailments - many who have an occasional rash want the stuff that stops severe skin problems and so forth... if it’s good enough, then the doctors who specialize in your maladies will hear about it and prescribe it as intended - or you have the wrong doctor.
